Haha! Good point, gobraves. But I think they're actually finished making decisions; they know who's in. An administrator on the admissions blog let it slip a couple days ago that "we admitted 3400 in staters this year"...past tense. They know who's in, I think they're just trying to double check that they're sending the correct decisions to everybody, because a few years back they had a complete fiasco after accidentally sending out acceptance letters to rejected applicants.

So this is it! EA applicants, we'll receive our decisions THIS WEEK :) I know we're all anxious, but that's something at least.

From the blog:
When we know for sure when we'll be able to post decisions, we'll let everyone know through this blog.

We haven't yet mentioned an exact date and time because we don't want to make a promise that we might not eventually be able to keep.

I'll let everyone know more as soon as I know it. In the meantime, thank you again for your patience, your good humor, and your ongoing interest in Carolina.

Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.!!!!!!!!!!

As of a few minutes ago, we’ve confirmed that we’re on track to release decisions online at 4 pm on Wednesday, January 14.

If you applied first deadline and completed your application in good order, you’ll be able to log onto your UNC homepage and view a facsimile of your decision letter. Official letters should start arriving by U.S. mail on Thursday, January 15. Please note that, to protect the privacy of our candidates, we can’t release decisions by telephone or by email.

We know that each of these decisions will shape the life of someone who lives and breathes. We also know that each of these someones is infinitely more interesting, complicated, and promising than we can imagine.

If choosing among such wonderful students is a humbling and terrifying challenge, it is also a great privilege. So thank you, candidates, for giving us this opportunity; for trusting us enough to let us glimpse your great potential; and for bearing with us over the course of the last two weeks, when the tension has understandably been high.

ya just saw that, and is it 4 pm eastern???

humm should I check right at 4pm (ill be at school, n everyone will b asking me), or should i w8 untill like 4:30 when I get home!!!!

Ohmygosh, I can't wait. Check in school man.
Luckily it's 3pm for me, but if it was at 4 my time I'd just tell my coach sorry and be late for my swim practice. It's worth it

OMG OMG...I'm like so nervous.
Is it 4PM eastern or what?

I will be checking between and during all of my classes on Wednesday. After I get home, I will lock myself in a room and continously stare at my computer, while periodically pressing the refresh button, until it is 4 pm.

thank god I have an iPhone! ill be checking every 2 minutes ALL DAY!

a majority of the active users on this site recieveed likely letters these past couple of months. we really shouldnt be streesing that much, BUT that is not the case for me!!!! This wait is almost unbearable

In less than one day you guys, we will all have received our decisions!!!!
Good luck to everyone, and even more good luck sleeping tonight haha

I'd just like to point out that the thread title is now accurate.

omg. what a crazy thought.

Two hours and counting!

Before decisions come out, I would just like to say that even if you are rejected or deferred, it does not mean you are not an intelligent, very qualified student. There are thousands of applicants, and relatively few spots. In the end, it's pretty much a crap shoot. I really believe that there is not just one school meant for you, there are many schools that we could all strive and be successful in. Good luck everyone!

I wonder if they will post exactly at 4PM of if perhaps we will have the treat of an early post... that would be nice, even if it were only like twenty minutes...

i got in wooooo
