Just called. They said they will notify applicants on December 7th. I asked them if they were going to "post it". They said "no"... so I'm assuming they will mail + email? Someone confirm this? I was too excited by the December 7th... heh. w00t FedEx on Wednesday!

Posted on Website. Email + Mail at the end of the day... but I still think we should call FedEx on Wednesday =)

yay cant wait for my rejection email/letter

haha agreed on the rejection letter front

Wow. Thanks for the info. My son has to give all of his RD apps to the High School guidance counselor tomorrow, or they will not get to them until after Jan. 1. Ugh!

It really seemed like such a little short period of time for them to review all of the apps. I know our regional rep's wasn't suppose to return from out of the country until 11/16. My son's interview was conducted on 11/28, with the report due Columbia on 12/1. That is a really quick turn around time.

Good luck to everyone.

Wow next Thursday! I wonder when they will finish making all of the decisions... by the end of this week?

arrggggghh
so nervous
are you guys looking forward to this?

I'm dying right now.

Good luck to all of you! I'm RD, so I have a few months left =/

I think I'm gonna hafta call FedEx on Wednesday... I just can't wait longer if I know I can find out and get this over with (I have to start my RD apps if i get deferred). Let's meet here Wednesday and call? This way if Columbia somehow does decide to use UPS or something, we won't all think we are rejected/deferred if we call FedEx and find out NONE of us got anything.

Oh and it says on the website that it would be mailed out on the same day... but last year it said that too and they mailed out the day before. Correct? Oh and is it next day mail or 2-3 days? I live in NJ and would like to intercept the package before my parents get it in either case...

haha, i love how obsessive we are.
i told my friends i was going to call fedex and they told me i was pathetic.
i vote we meet here after calling.

Now that they've put a precise date on it, I'm much more nervous. And I happen to have work that day, too, so I'll probably be antsy all during that. (And I'm too much of a coward to call FedEx/UPS the night before.)

Now that I know the date, I guess I should make a point to get all my big assignments done a couple days before so that I won't be too upset/excited to work on my giant English paper. (:

Can someone explain this calling FedEx thing? How would somebody figure out the decision if they found out that there was a package being sent to them?

yeah ditto above post
also how would we know if they mail it dec 7?

do we call fedex/ups in our state or new yorks
yeah i dont know a single thing about fedex/ups sorry lol its pathetic

Most people, from what I gather, learn by e-mail first (due to the speed of e-mail over regular mail). A few weeks back (I think this was two weeks back), I visited Low Library after the SHP, because they had an open house. The staff there said that although the given date is usually Thursday or Friday, some people receive it earlier- one of the people I talked to got it on the Tuesday of that week!

Concurred with hyunbaeg and VSL. Although I wouldn't call myself "nervous" so much as "scared out of my pants". I don't imagine I will get more than an hour of sleep for the next week or so. Rather scary.

This was an article in the Harvard Crimson last year about this Columbia... FedEx deal. People last year found out a day in advance by calling FedEx (Columbia uses FedEx overnight for acceptances) and according to Harvard admissions officers 'creatively' found a way to screw the system.

haha enjoy!

what if columbia decides to send all letters/packages (acceptances, deferrals, rejections) through fedex this year :P

That's gonna cost them a pretty penny =P lol... they FedEx overnight your rejection to you LoL -_-;

yeah well uhh to be fair! then everyone will know their decision =)

okay fine i will shutup now lol

haha, i love that article.

in the end, they mention that they're amused/surprised by "columbia applicants' cleverness."
that made me laugh...we'll do most anything to find out NOW
