You will receive an email on December 15th, and the letters will be mailed out that day as well. Thank you for contacting us"

Here's what I sent on Nov. 27th:

"Will the final decisions for ED candidates be available online beginning the 15th, or will they be mailed out earlier? I've heard some different stories about it, I just wanted to know what will actually happen. And have the decisions already been made?"

So everyone can just chill this week. Hurrah!

I want my decision now! Gah!
So now I have to work on more applications because I don't know if I'll get into Columbia...I was going to start on Thursday after I get rejected :P but now I have to start tonight instead. Grr.

Plus, my sister is coming in to JFK airport from a trip to Africa on the 15th and I only wanted to be in NYC if I was accepted...because if I get rejected it's just going to really depress me. Basically now I HAVE to go pick her up and (most likely) be depressed for the remainder of the weekend there.

Awww, this is so depressing. Maybe they say that for formalities? Does anyone know if they said the same thing last year but released decisions early? (*Is trying to salvage some hope for decisions being released on Dec.7)

I think it is ON.. I just called.. the guy said.. December 15th.. I asked.. not earlier than that.. He said.. YES.. Well, at least my dream will last a little bit longer..

But I wonder how much the admissions people would get annoyed by all these phone calls they get..about the same exact thing hahhaha i feel kinda sorry, but we want to know ! : D

are you kidding me. ive been so psyched about all of this...
i was hoping that columbia would have it earlier than the other schools this year like the years before us
and this means ill actually need to work on apps so as not to cram it in the last 4 days if i dont get in...T_T

I know, I was getting so excited for Thurs too! But two people have already confirmed the 15th... But I will like check my email frequently starting the 6th for sure!

Haha, well now I hope that it is the 15th, since it's in my head now. And jhl, it seemed pretty definite that it was on th 15th. No room for discrepancy, I know that's gonna bother some of y'all. :)

Gah, I really hope it's not the 15th. I REALLY hope it's not the 15th. I don't want to be forced to do my other apps!

Also, when I called, they said the 15th, but I was talking to a student who didn't sound too, er, motivated, so I wouldn't put too much stock in it. I get the sense that's what he was told.

Even if the ED results come out tomorrow,Columbia will not tell you in advance. In the first place, it is always the students that pick up phone calls, they can not decide which day the result is out. Moreover, if they answer you,you probably share this information with others online..however, it is not fair to those applicants who don't have access to this information.
If they tell you,'oh, don't worry ,the result will come out on Dec 6th,,' or something like give you a exact time other than the official "Dec 15th",you must tell others this great news excitedly..However, for some reason, the final result does not come at that time, Columbia will be consider a liar..

Therefore, I thinkColumbia will not tell us the date on which the ED result comes out, even if they have an idea. They just tell you a date they can 100 percent make sure everything is done, which is Dec 15th according to the official website. However,I don't think the actual result will come out that late.Dec 15th is Saturday and Dec 14th is a school holiday..they can not send email on that 2 days.Onc Dec 13th they will have CC & SEAS Holiday Party from 4:00pm EST to 6:00pm EST, it is also a not good date to send email( I have heard that they usually send emails on 5:00PM...)

Base on the information above, I think the result may come out on Dec 6th,7th,10th,11th or 12th.....and it is more likely to come out this week(according to the result of class of 2010 and 2011)...so, everyone in this board,,just wait patiently and confidently, you will get the congratulation letter from Columbia very soon

In the end, I sincerely pray for all of you to be admitted by Columbia early

Violaina your post makes sense and I really really really hope that your logic is correct.

I remember reading a thread last year that said something about decision being made and sent out before a party? Maybe the party violaina mentioned? Dunno. But fingers crossed!
