i have a big dilemma and at this point i have no idea what to do. I plan to study finance or accounting have been accepted to villanova and fordham, with a full tuition scholarship to fordham and probably not much from villanova, maybe a half tuition scholarship at the most. Villanova is definitely my top choice, I loved it there and their business school seems to have a great reputation. I don't know as much about Fordham's rep, I will be visiting them next month. I am now wondering if it will be worth the extra $10-15,000 a year to go to Villanova, and if it will really put me that much farther ahead.

also, I applied to Boston College, Boston Univ, and Penn, and if any of them could make it affordable to attend I would probably take it. Recently I have found out that I could attend Arizona State as a part of their honors for free, and that their Honors College is somewhat well known. I have looked up their rankings, the business school is decently ranked, but will this make a difference to employers/business schools? I have read and heard that reputation matters most and ASU seems to have a party school rep, but they are trying to get rid of it and are heavily recruiting students and faculty from the Northeast. Would my post-graduation opportunities be that much different if i went there for free over paying $40,000 for 4 years at Fordham or even more at one of the other schools?

any comments/advice? i think i'm gonna visit ASU in a couple weeks and should be finding out from my other schools too, i just wanted to see what some other people thought

Between Villanova and Fordham I would choose Fordham. As a Jesuit school, it is known to be very challenging academically. It is also in NYC, which is big plus--lots of connections.

Fordham does have a pretty good rep actually. And for someone looking to study business-related topics, there is no better place to get ahead than New York City, the opportunities here are endless.

Aren't ** both ** schools Jesuit?

ASU Barretts has a great reputation, their kids do quite well with grad school acceptances, amazing stats in fact, a lot of good mentoring. They do have honors dorms and are builing a new campus for the honors program.

If you are accepted at U Penn or Boston College, go there. The federal govt has loans available to parents that have excellent terms. I think it would be worth spending an extra $15000 to go to U Penn or Boston College. The choice between Fordham and Villanove is less clear-cut but I would still spend the extra money for Villanova if that is the place you love. I don't think you should be tempted by an honors college. They are not all they are cracked up to be...sometimes not very differentat all. You are still going to have the name of the second-tier school on your diploma and spend 4 years with the students who attend the second-tier school. I think Honors College is a mostly a marketing technique for second-tier schools to get better students.

Tlaktan, both schools are Catholic; Fordham is Jesuit while Villanova is Augustine.
