Decisions, Decisions.

Okay, so, about two weeks ago, I had everything planned out. I was going to get a Bachelor's double major in English/Theatre in 4 years, move on to grad school to get Master's & PhD in English from there. Become a literature professor. Maybe I'd minor in something in undergrads if I had time, I didn't really know.

But now, I've realized I have the potential with AP credit to (at least at UGA) exempt some if not all of the entire core curriculum. This opens up a world of opportunities. I could maybe triple major if I wanted to, or double major double minor or single major and like, quadruple minor or something (do colleges allow that?). I have enough interests, whether it be English, Theatre, French, Psychology (newly-found), Mathematics, Visual Art, etc. Or maybe I could get my bachelor's a year or two early? Participate in an accelerated degree program, and get my Master's along with my Bachelor's quickly, and then get a Ph.D even sooner and start my career even earlier? But an accelerated program would probably require me to go to grad school where I went to undergrads, wouldn't it? Would that be worth it in the long run? All this accelerated stuff might also require me to be taking courses in almost nothing but English, which would be rather restricting... I know at UGA I could get up to 12 hours of credit that could contribute to both my Bachelor's and my Master's without actually enrolling in grad school, would that be worth it? If I didn't go after my Master's at UGA would that credit transfer to another grad school? What if I don't want to make my decision right away, maybe I could try and complete all my English major requirements for my Bachelor's before I decide if accelerated programs or multiple majors/minors are right for me?

And would I even want to exempt the entire core curriculum?

The main reason I mentioned UGA so much was because that was the school I was digging up information about when all these opportunities exploded.

I just feel like I should be prepared for all of these opportunities, and it's a bit overwhelming.

You are waayy over-analyzing everything. Enjoy college and explore some electives. Your majors may change when you're in college. Your whole career plan may also change as well. I was interested in the PhD route when I was in college. Now I'm more focused on business and nonprofit management. Slow down and focus on doing well your freshman year.

Just go to school and don't worry about it so much. Trust me, it's so not worth it, because you'll just change your mind when you start taking classes anyway. This coming from someone who came in as an English/Theatre double major, then added a Journalism minor, then dropped the Theatre major and bumped Journalism up to a Major, then dropped the Journalism major back down to a minor and added a Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies minor which then was bumped up to a major. And then, I decided I didn't want to bother and that none of it was necessary besides my English major.
