Does Columbia give out "guaranteed transfer" as an admissions decision?

What do you mean?

like if they accept your transfer request, you automatically get transfered?

No, many schools will say in the decisions letter (for undergrad admissions) "We were impressed with your application, but we aren't offering you a position for the incoming Fall '09 class. However, due to your wonderful credentials, we are guaranteeing you admissions to the fall '10 class as a transfer student. You are being offered Guaranteed Admission."

I know Cornell does this, you just have to go somewhere else for your freshmen year, then transfer for second year. I'm just wondering if Columbia does this.

I see. sorry, I have never heard of this.

I don't believe Columbia has this program. Do you know what the policy behind Cornell's program is? I'm curious.

Yes, if you accept their offer of guaranteed transfer, when you're at whatever school for your freshmen year, you have a whole cornucopia of course requirements to meet. Once you complete them, which you will in your freshmen year, your transfer app is flagged in the admissions office as a Guaranteed person to admit if those requirements were met.

And they don't care where you attend Freshman year? Sounds... pretty awesome?

never heard of this kinda program before...
