Decisions for fall of 2005

I know there are a few of us out there who have kids who have made decisions for next year. Some of us only waited for letters late last year and canceled auditons for this year because of making early decisions. So, I thought I would begin this thread. I remember how valuable the final decision thread was last year. I still go back and look at it occasionally to place people. It is hard to remember everyone.

My son, DR, and his friend, JM, have both decided to go to OCU next fall and are thrilled.

I wait excitedly for all of your decisions, although not with the anxiety that I know you have. I feel like I know so many of you, and the input of this list has meant so much.

Congrats to your son and his friend! They must both be so excited; first to be accepted to OCU, and second, that they'll be there together!
I posted this a while ago, but since it's a new thread and it IS hard to keep track, my d is going to CAP21 at NYU in the fall. I'm hoping we can swing it financially, though.

Thank goodness, we are beyond this stage! However, for those of you beginning to make final decisions, I would like to give 2 pieces of advice. First - if any of the schools you are considering offers any kind of special day/program, to come and observe, or see a production, or contact current students - TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT!!!

Second - if you have acceptances from schools you have already decided against - do a favor for the school (and all those deferred/waitlisted hopefuls!) and let them know. Don't feel like you have to rush your decision - but if you have definitely ruled some out, let them know. They will appreciate it, as will those still waiting to hear!

Bless you, MusThCC. Yes, I can confirm: colleges would definitely appreciate hearing if you're no longer interested in their program. That applies even to schools like mine, which has yet to send out letters. If (by chance) you have auditioned for us, and you have already accepted a bid elsewhere, please tell us. We have so few slots, it's only fair to those waiting. Thanks, everyone.

I, too, already posted this a while back, but since this new thread was started I thought I would post it again. My D will also be attending OCU for MT for the fall. She got a very nice scholarship package as well (which doesn't hurt), and while she is going to be halfway across the country from our home, she is so excited and feels she made the right choice for her.

I second the suggestion to notify other schools. All but one that we notified were very polite and congratulatory.

Look forward to hearing where everyone else ends up, so please keep us updated!

Lexasmom

Right now I think that I'm going to end up at Baldwin-Wallace, but I still have to hear from 3 other schools

Just wanted to bump this thread up so as decisions are made, we can all share in the great news!

YAY for the new freshman class!!! I'm excited to meet you guys! :)

D will be going to Illinois Wesleyan. It is a long way from S. Calif., but she is thrilled.

Ok, as of right now, I'm going to CCM in the fall. That's not at all set in stone. But for those BW/UArts/Point Park hopefuls out there...I'm making some room for you!

I've decided that I'm going to go to Baldwin-Wallace next year!, Although I still have to get my parents to agree that I'm going there too (they want me to go to Millikin). And I'm still waiting on those 3 other schools, but only to see if I get in or not. If anyone else is going to BW next year PM me!

Just wanted to "bump" again as my d and I are looking forward to finding out where everyone will be headed this fall!

mtfan,
Just curious, why do your parents want you to go to Millikin? Closer to home? Just wondering. My D is deciding between Millikin and SUNY Fredonia. She got a nice financial package from Millikin (merit and talent awards). The dance at Fredonia seems good but Millikin has been her favorite since the beginning. Hmmm. I'm going to take her to Fredonia for another visit to take classes, etc. once her musical is over in two weeks. Hopefully that will help her make a decision. Millikin is 7 hours away and Fredonia is 3 and a half, but I really want her at the better school no matter what the distance. Student life seems a bit more exciting at Fredonia, but that's just an added benefit. She wants to go to the better MT school .Anyone have any comments?

Well, I've gotten my parents to agree with me on BW so I will be there next year! My parents wanted me to go to Millikin becuase Its about 3 hours away and right on the way to my grandmas house. Plus they gave me the most money out of all of my schools.

mama02gilz and mtfan - May I ask...when did you hear about the talent awards? We're still waiting to hear...thanks!

I got mine last week

University of Evansville BFA Performance. They even do a little MT. I was also accepted at NCSA and SMU and rejected by FSU. I withdrew myself from consideration at all but two others, but they were dragging their feet getting their letters out and I needed to go ahead and declare for financial reasons. It's where I want to be, anyway.

Big Congrats Thesbo!! What a relief to know, isn't it?

SUE aka 5pants

I've only posted a couple of messages this past fall but I have continued to follow the thread. My d did get accepted at Point Park University for MT. Does anyone know about their "evaluation" process? After the freshman year you have to apply for the BFA program otherwise you remain in the MT-BA program. If any of you have any thoughts on the matter I would like to hear your opinion.

Congrats to your D barsmom! I don't know anything about the evaluation process, but if you need to know about Pittsburgh, I can probably fill in there, or find out from my niece, a senior at Pitt.

mtfan-Bet it feels good to have that decision made. BW is such an awesome place. Hope you get into that air-conditioned dorm with the great hang-out room with the big screen TV, huh? (Not that MT students have any time for that stuff, but... ya know)

Lynn-She heard about 3 weeks ago on the talent scholarship. We're going to Fredonia in 2 weeks and she will make the final decision then. We have to wait because the musical opens Thursday and runs for TWO weekends, which is a new experience for us. This area of the country isn't "Theaterriffic" or "Artrageous" as my daughters say, so the fact that the tickets are selling fast and people are actually talking about it around town is exciting. In the past, the crowds have been small for shows only running one weekend!
