Congrat's to all of you on your wonderful decisions. Also, thanks for keeping me straight on the OCU mom / daughter connection!

lynnm - I wanted to put in a tiny plug for Barry University because they have continually sent info. to my son about their school. I'm impressed that they keep sending all these nice brochures when we haven't pursued it. U of Miami has sent some things, too. We haven't worked out a trip down there.

I hope you will stay in touch with us and let us know about your experiences at Suny Purchase. I have heard great things about the program but would love to hear about it first hand from someone that goes there. I hope you love it!!

I'm going to CMU for Directing and I am from Houston -- tell your friend to send me an IM if he/she wants - my SN is "Briarbrad" on AIM. Email - briarbrad@aol.com

D has decided on Millikin, too! We attended a dress rehearsal of Damn Yankees and all I can say is "wow"! Every lead had an awesome voice and the dance numbers were difficult choreography done well. The tech aspect was most impressive. The locker room scene had an awesome all oak look that was really neat. We also sat in on some dance classes, and for those of you who know my D's story, we were so happy with the dance program! It's easy to see how Peggy's D is learning lots and happy. They were doing the original choreography for West Side Story for the street dance and these kids were excellent and the dance (as most of you probably are visualizing right now) was challenging. I learned that out of 25 original class members, this year's senior class will have 14. Of these, 9 participated in the showcase, because you have to be willing to move to NYC and only 9 wanted to. The rest will go to Chicago and Minneapolis to work!!! The kids did very well, agent representation, etc. I also watched a second year Jazz class and it's easy to see how the kids become good dancers. The head of dance talked to us and told us that they basically move very quickly to turn the kids into dancers. Those who can't keep up are redirected to BA acting or Music Performance. I guess there is a bit of re-directing because of the actual numbers of graduates. So anyway, we are all very happy here, and looking forward to the next step. Oh, and it was mentioned that they may reassess how they do their audition process, because this year may be a very large class!! I actually gained so much info when we visited this last time, so for anyone wondering, feel free to ask. I found out lots about the entire program, and my D is so excited now!

Best wishes to GRMom and Mama02girlz for the decisions being made and on the excitement of the wonderful years ahead for their kids! Mama, we don't know much about Milliken but it sounds great and it seems you guys really explored it there. And your daughter will meet Lynn's lovely D! Grmom, my D got into Syracuse's MT program as well and really liked it. I was impressed with all we saw and heard. I hope your son has a great time there. The kids there seemed quite happy and tight as a group.

SUNY Purchase - We had heard they had a good acting program and considered visiting last year spring break, but it was to hard to get to from NYC for us. I believe they told us the students choose just acting or just voice, for example, similar to Juilliard. I believe they may not let you combine the disciplines. It is worth a look, especially since my info. is over a year old.

Wow, look how long the final decison list is getting, and what great choices all the CC kids have been able to make! I'm so excited for everyone! My D is only a sophomore, so we have a while until we go through this process, but I've been following everyone for the last couple of years, especially this year, and it is just so nice to see that all of these talented and hardworking kids are seeing such great results! Good luck to everyone at their chosen programs!

I just wanted to take this opportunity to extend a warm CONGRATULATIONS to all cc students and parents!!!! What a fabulous list! It looks like every geographic area of the states is well represented - now thats a NETWORK!

I am so excited today because d2 is coming home!!!!!!! (really missed her), AND the three of us are leaving for Europe this week-end to be with D1! So I won't be around for the next couple weeks to hear others final decisions, waitlist changes, etc. I will look forward to this exciting info when I return!

For those of you with your first going on to college, or last, or in between -
it is an exciting "rite of passage" and definitely a life style change for parent and student.
Enjoy these next few months and each other,
the adventures are just beginning.

STUDIO, thanks for the nice wishes. I know what ya mean about the lifestyle change, as I have a freshman in college. Next year will be big for me when I have no kids at home.

In any case, your trip sounds amazing and really special as you are sharing it with both your daughters. Have a wonderful time. Thanks for sharing your experiences and knowledge for those of us who are a couple steps behind you in this endeavor.
