<p>Mine also will be attending CCM MT.</p>
<p>SUNY Cortland has the MT program. Saw it a few years back. It was very unimpressive. Many performers were not MT majors, as they did not have enough to cast the show "She Loves Me." When they take from the general population of students, then I feel why spend money for an MT program. Do they take kids from political science majors to fill spots in a nursing prgram? To me, it was much like a high school show, you have a few good ones and a few bad ones. Felt like there was no student in the program to "challenge" my child.</p>

<p>For those speaking of the SUNY schools. D was accepted to SUNY Fredonia, and we did quite a lot of researching before deciding on Millikin. D attended classes, spoke to faculty and saw a student directed show, "Barnum". This program is good, and getting better. They are hiring a new head of dance for next year, and were told that they hope to have a dance major soon (they have a minor now). They currently have only one dance studio, however, (but it's absolutely huge and could be divided). Once again for us, the final decision came down to the dance aspect. Millikin has more dance at a higher level. Millikin is also ballet based while Fredonia is Modern based which is good for my D. We sat in on a Musical Theatre Dance class which had mostly seniors in it. The instructor told us that he wished we had been there the previous week because they had just finished up the jazz unit and it was awesome. They were working on a tap/swing dance number and although it was cute choreography and entertaining to watch, he was right, it wasn't difficult. He told us it wouldn't be. It did impress me that the guys were all good dancers. We were also impressed with the vocal faculty. They also have hurdles and redirect people to different majors who are not keeping up. A student told us that there will be 8 graduates this year out of an original class of over 20. They said that this year they saw more auditionees than ever, and were able to be much more selective than in previous years. We were told by the lady that assigns the kids to vocal studios that around 300 auditioned, which seems like a lot to me but who knows? All the kids were very friendly and seemed happy, as was the faculty. Anyone with more specific questions, feel free to send me a private message.</p>

<p>i've seen reference to some early may deadline, official or unofficial, for notifying colleges of your acceptance of their offer. can anyone respond to this?</p>
<p>Razorback, May 1 is a national date that colleges all agree to as the date that students must notify the colleges of their decision whether to enroll. This year, because May 1 fell on a Sunday, most schools used a May 2 date. This is the standard. Colleges are not supposed to make kids commit prior to this date. But if your child is holding an offer in hand, do read the notification date required for sending back her intentions and/or deposit. Each school would have mentioned that in the offer of admission. If in any doubt, do call....today!

<p>My friend just got accepted off of the waitlist for Otterbein! She found out yesterday and will be attending in the fall. My question is: w/ the universal cut-off for admittance into college being May 1, what happens in wait list situations? I know she was planning on attending Millikin for quite a while until this offer came up. </p>
