I guess I'll call on Monday if I don't get my admissions letter by tomorrow...

Admissions will give information via phone starting Monday if you haven't received your decision. We had called last week. DS's admission was accidentally delivered to our next door neighbor's garage mail slot and they are in Florida until May. My husband and son actually used a flashlight to look into the garage, lifted it up just about 1/2 inch and fished out the Wake Forest envelope...what an adventure!!! We figured it was possible because one day last week we didn't receive any mail at all and, because it was a new mailman, we thought he may not know that they hold the neighbor's mail...nothing like adding a little stress to college admissions week!

Wake Office of Admissions spent $2 in postage on Thursday to mail me their quarterly magazine (which arrived today). I'm assuming that my acceptance packet just got lost in the mail somewhere. I guess I'll call on Monday.

Yea, honestly why would they send you a magazine if you weren't accepted? Unless it was some sort of April Fools joke of course...

Good one willmingtonwave...I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

We got her acceptance yesturday, but without financial aid papers.

Question: We missed the date to apply for their inhouse scholarships. She can still receive funds based on her FAFSA and CCS? I hope...

Yes of course. Wake offers both need-based financial aid and also merit-based scholarships (most of which don't require the FAFSA or CSS). If you didn't meet the merit deadline you will still be eligible for the need-based financial aid and their funds. I think they said they would be mailing FA information in mid-April.

are u sure about that scarlet. i called the Financial Aid offices (both merit and need based) and the undergrad admission office. and they said they dont really send out anything financial aid wise unless you applied for it through fafsa or their merit office. i thought that soudned untrue ..and to be honest the girl i was talkking to soudned a lil uninformed. i hope you are right because i need it dearly and didnt apply for anything bc i didnt think i had a shot at getting in. but now im in and need FA. if they do send those packages in april are those just like .. small incentive like $1- $5,000 type deals? or?

also does anyone know if you can apply for FA merit based scholasrhips after your freshman year? or do you need to obtain one of those as an incoming freshman?

you are allowed to apply, but make sure u dont pass the FAFSA june or may deadline!!

I believe you have to apply for Financial aid every year.

Gente9,

I'm not quite sure I understand your question. I'll try to answer anyway. Wake offers two types of aid: need based and merit based. You have to apply for both. For need based aid I believe you must submit the FAFSA, I don't know if Wake uses CSS. If you submit those forms you will be eligible for need based financial aid. For merit based aid you must submit the application and essays by either December 1 or January 1 depending on which scholarships you applied for.

If you didn't apply for any aid you could still be eligible if you submit your FAFSA now, but you won't be eligible this year for merit based aid. The deadline for merit passed months ago and those scholarships have already been awarded. If you need need based aid and you have not submitted the forms you should call the financial aid office immediately and tell them your problem and ask what you can do.

Good luck.

P.S. I do believe there are some merit scholarships that are available to already enrolled Wake Forest students who did not apply at first. I'm not 100% sure though.

There are definitely some merit based awards available to upperclassmen, but I'm not sure how many or how much they award.
