Decisions.

Myslice is working again . . .

@brainsguts
My friend is not that good of a student at our school. His GPA is in the 3.2-3.3 range (UW because we dont have weighted gpas). His ranking, even though the school doesnt officially rank, he’s below the top 25% not exactly sure where. His portfolio in my opinion was very good but I dont know much about architecture so im the wrong guy to ask :stuck_out_tongue: He applied at the same time you did. Btw we’re from an IB school in the Dominican Republic.

I was expecting some kind of decision via email by Friday at 6:30 PM. Only because that is around the timeline of last year. So, when we didn’t get it, I’m thinking maybe accept get the emails and deny get the letters :frowning: I don’t know about you all, but I have been hearing that this year has been the toughest of them all everywhere, despite the challenged economy.

I doubt they would do that. Pretty sure we’d get an email, even if it is a rejection.

Yeah I highly doubt that’s the case.

although i really doubt that theory about the letters and emails, what GoPats said about this being a particularly tough year is probably right. most ranked schools are recording high, and in some cases record numbers of applicants (e.g. BU). the field is going to be much tougher this year, especially because of how highly collegeboard and the princeton review rate syracuse’s financial aid during this poor economy. lots of kids are applying to super-safe schools because they know they need lots of aid and that they’ll definitely get it from their super-safeties (or at least that’s what lots of my friends are doing–applying to HPY + a few top 30 schools which would be their safeties and 3 or 4 top 50 super-safeties).

But even with more applicants, I assume that the percentage they accept would be roughly the same as last year. While more interest is shown towards Syracuse, basically every school is seeing the same thing and there will be an increase in the percent of students accepted but not attending for each school as the average number of schools applied per student to is increasing. (this is how I see it, at least)

I am not taking the lack of a response from Syracuse as an indicator one way or another right now, only because NOBODY in the US has received a letter/Email regarding decisions admit/reject/waitlist.

There is only one domestic student reply on the 2015 results thread- and although that student is for sure admitted because they are a scholarship finalist - even that student did NOT receive a letter/Email from Syracuse. (International students may be hearing sooner).

I imagine Syracuse, as with most other schools has seen an enormous surge in applications this year and may be a little behind. The other possibility is that they are holding to a similar timeline on the calendar as previous years - which would correspond with this coming Friday (mid March) despite the fact that their spring break landed a little earlier.

Although this past Friday would have been consistent with previous years spring break timeline-the fact that nobody knows right now is good enough reason for me to remain hopeful.

Stay Positive!

yep collmomof2 that’s probably it. Noticed on thegradcafe.com that they are just getting their decisions today (yes today sunday march 13) under architecture grad school admission results. So it seems it’s coming but not quite yet for regular undergrad decisions. At least we know there are no ‘glitches’ in their computer system just sit down and wait our turn.

@oso123
Thanks, I appreciate it, hah. My cumulative transfer GPA is a 3.4, but I actually have Studio credit, so maybe that would count for something. Everything else I submitted is pretty good too, but we all just have to wait and see!

Just to let all of you know; last week (don’t remember the day) was only the second day in SU history where the school was closed for snow…it is highly possible that this delayed the majority of decisions…and I imagine that given the missed day, the admissions office will be open and churning tomorrow…

there is NO way they will wait until April 1st with the Spring admitted student days starting that first week…

hang in there…

I’m also waiting, but i was at admissions on Friday afternoon, and they said that decisions would start coming out around the third week in March. I don’t know if they are going to send them out sporadically or all together, but they definitely said third week (so this week).

hey everybody, i’m new at this but i have been keeping up with this thread for a while now and finally decided to make an account! i applied to the college of arts & sciences as a psychology major at syracuse. i’m hoping that we will all hear within the next week! my friend that is a freshman this year said that he received an email about the third week of march soooo any day if they follow previous years!

Do you think its possible that they mailed the letters friday and we are going to get them in the mail today?

Hopefully, bc they sure love to mail stuff!!!

Nothing there…anyone have an idea when they will be out?

Like collmomof2 said, I only know I’m definitely accetped because I’m a finalist for the Coronat Scholarship through the College of Arts and Sciences, but I’ve yet to receive an “official” acceptance letter or email.

yeah same here except I wasn’t chosen as a finalist. Still haven’t gotten the official letter yet though. and don’t know about the college of engineering yet because I applied for dual enrollment.

i hope what you guys are saying is right…so its not just the architecture students that get it later? =O

I have actually read that they begin sending applications on the 18th.
