Hope to see some of you in a few months!

jbourgeois12 did u just get the letter today?

RichieRich24 -

It may be due to your last name. My daughter’s name begins with a letter near the end of the alphabet. Sometimes they mail in alphabetical batches. Also, when they said the letters were mailed 3/23, it might have meant put into the college mail system rather the the US postal service. She got her letter yesterday and it was actually post-marked 3/26.

My daughter was accepted yesterday. (Large envelope.) Her stats are similar to what I am seeing for many of you. I think the deciding factor was her volunteer work. They commented on that in the acceptance letter.

Good luck to your son, LuckyMom2! I hope his large envelope arrives as soon as possible.

Also, re financial aid, being wait-listed is not necessarily fatal to his chances. At many colleges, whether there is financial aid for wait-listed students often depends on the composition of the students who decide to attend by May 1st. Holy Cross aid is primarily need-based. If a good number of people who accept do not have high need, it is very likely that there will be at least some money available for wait-listed students.

Accepted! I visited Holy Cross last year and loved it! now just waiting on the financial aid.
Congrats to everyone who was accepted! and to those who were waitlisted, keep your hopes up :)

D received acceptance today, letter was postmarked on Monday (we live just 45 minutes away). She’s very happy, but anxiously waiting FA letter to see if this is viable option. If it is, she will attend.

Outcomes are very unpredictable it seems …others with similar stats at her school received rejections and wait list offers from HC. and my D was rejected outright from a similarly selective LAC in the region.

Students can only attend one college, so I am hoping that you all have one good option by the end of March.

Received acceptance today
ACT 30
GPA 101.5
Rank 3/575
Visited the campus and toured
Leadership in ECS

Good luck to everyone!

Congratulations! You may meet my daughter there or at another school. You are on the same sites.

D received acceptance today, postmarked 3/26/12 (Westie, I think you may have been right about the alphabetical mailings). D visited & toured Holy Cross in the fall and loved it so she is very happy.

Good luck everyone!

thank you westiemom1! What other schools has your daughter applied to? Accepted, waiting to hear from etc?

Is there anybody still waiting to hear? My last name is at the beginning of the alphabet and I have not heard anything. I’m so anxious

westiemom1 - thank you for your kind words and congratulations on your daughter’s acceptance. Since my letter telling me I was waitlisted, I’ve received acceptance letters from Connecticut College and Lafayette. Although I will always wonder if I could have done more to gain admission to Holy Cross, I am feeling very good about my choices. Best of luck to your daughter.

Congratulations, ctstudent! Those are fine institutions and I am sure you would be happy at either. Do not give up on HC yet, though; nearly every school gets to the waitlist, so if you really want HC, just keep yourself on the list and show interest. Send them every up-date: 3rd quarter grades, awards, etc. and you may find yourself on the hill in the fall.

RichieRich, my daughter has received offers from HC, GWU, Union, Villanova and a couple others. We are currently waiting on what I call the “AOG” schools (Act of God, because it will take one to get her in) - Georgetown, Notre Dame and Princeton. She is also a fully-qualified candidate for West Point, but that is an entirely different topic.

S was accepted to HC, we got the letter on Wednesday in Western NY and we are at the very end of the alphabet. We are a little torn between here and Catholic University. Understanding that HC is a more prestigious school, Catholic has the lure of The Hill, and the fact that he eventually wants to go to law school, and a high GPA is a huge factor when applying. He would most likely come out of undergrad at Catholic with a higher GPA… we will see. Planning on attending an open house on the 22nd to take it all in. Congratulations to all those who applied and were accepted. And to those who did not, I am a true believer that there is a perfect school for every student, you just have to be patient and it will find you. :)
