Decisions??

Hey!
So I applied to IIT for fall 2012 and I'd like to know how applicants are notified of their decisions. I recently got an email from TNT (the courier service) saying that I would soon receive a letter from IIT. Could this be the decision? And did anyone get their decisions emailed to them? BTW i'm an international applicant.

Thanks. ^^

Hi Anita95

Yes, that should be your decision. There may be something for you in the admissions portal too.

ohh…I’ll check…thanks!

Turns out it was an admissions letter…and I got in to!! yay

Anita95, congrats! I received the letter yesterday too.
Did they give you a scholarship? and if yes, how much?
Which course did you apply for?

Congratulations to you both.

@eatheseed Congrats! Yeah they did. $18k for tuition +$3500 for housing. Applied for Architecture. You?

Wow, I got 16k for tuition and 3.5k for housing. Same here, applied for architecture.
Are you planning to go?

I’m not sure yet. Still waiting decisions from the other school’s applied to. BTW, where are you from?

I’m an intl student from Hong Kong. You?

International from Nigeria  (so many typo’s in my last post! lol!)

Hi I am an international student from Bosnia and I was curious if you guys received the scholarships along with your admission decision and how much more did you have to provide for the full cost?
thanks

How much did u get on the SAT for these scholarships ?

If any of you have questions whose answers might help you decide whether to come to IIT, feel free to ask me. I probably cannot answer specifics about architecture as I am a physics professor but I can try…

Is the campus and dorms safe? I heard that they are located in the ‘bad’ suburban part of Chicago, so crime rate was higher?

IIT is in the city of Chicago itself, on the near South Side. As with any urban campus there are always challenges but the campus itself is quite safe. There is a campus police force and the headquarters of the city of Chicago police department is right next to campus. The most common occurrence is theft from open offices or labs and the occasional bicycle. If students feel uncomfortable walking around they can call the campus police for an escort.

The neighborhood around campus is getting to be quite a bit nicer over the time I have been there. There are now a lot of new apartments within walking distance of campus and there will be more coming in the future.

Comparing all the neighborhoods in the city of Chicago, there are many of them which are much rougher than the one surrounding IIT.

I actually visited the campus a few weeks ago and I’d have to say I felt pretty safe, I got of the green line and walked to the campus, did not feel unfortable for a minute. The campus is in fact really modern and urban which may take a little bit to get used to but really green and comfortable.
Hope I get enough scholarships to attend it :D

Got accepted :D

Congratulations! What major?

Computer engineering
