decisions

Yes, good luck!

i got an "acknowledgement notice" yesterday. i applied on the 14th though. i cant wait to hear from them. definitely choosing mcgill over most schools.

so did everyone who heard already... already have their mid-term grades sent in? what faculties did you get accepted to?

maybe we should start an official decisions/stats thread... decisons should come b/t january 31 and march 30 for us residents (although some have already come)

I agree with atnay: an 'official' acceptance thread would be helpful. How about someone who has already been accepted starting it?

Only one person on here has been accepted. I'll just start one, even though I don't know yet...

Oh yeah, my status app changed yesterday to further review required aswell. My mid-year grades are required. I get them mid-february. I'll send them in then.

yay! further review required! my transcripts were sent today!

does anyone know if transcripts are sent electronically or by mail??

It all depends on your school and where it is located.

If you're in Quebec applying from CEGEP, you put your Code permanent on the application and McGill will get your transcript electronically from the Ministry of Education.

Likewise, if you're Ontarian, you put in you're OUAC code and they'll get your transcripts from Ontario's Ministry of Education (though if you took night classes, correspondence courses or anything else outside the normal curriculum; or if you graduated or will graduate before April, 2007, you have to send your transcripts manually).

For the rest of Canada and the United States, transcripts will probably be sent by mail.

for those who got their admission decisions already, is it based on the status of your app according to Minerva, or did you guys wait for the snail mail to come before making an announcement on these forums?

Snail mail is not McGill's forte--particularly for US applicants. If I remember correctly, it took at least three-weeks for my daughter to get a printed acceptance after the Minerva announcement, and this was after she put down a $200 deposit. Make sure to keep your offer of acceptance because it is one of the MANY documents you will need to get your (dreaded) CAQ (Quebec student permit) and your Canadian student visa. New students will soon become familiar with immigration bureaucracy. McGill mail to new students is usually mailed from Buffalo, NY so it doesn't have the loooong delay of mail between the US and Canada.

Three weeks?!?!?! wow..... thanx for telling me... well, i guess i get to announce that, according to minerva, my app for the faculty of science is "further review required" yet my app for the faculty of agric. and enviro. science is "admitted pending final results". So... i'm more or less in, right? Wow... i can't wait three weeks!!! gahh!!!

Congratulations!! Every year admitted students get really bent out of shape by "admitted pending final results". This simply means they want you to keep up your average and graduate on time-- not get a serious case of senioritis. You are in, not more or less.

Listen to McGill Dad, he is right. Same thing happened to my son and at the end he was accepted to both Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Science.

does further review required mean that you have been deferred?

^^

No, it does not, it just means they're still going over the application. Also, a note for U.S. applicants. A deferral in Canada, means that you've been accepted, but not in the program of your choice, but in one that the admissions office have found more suitable for you.

guys, im worried!

I love McGill (my dad went there and loved it) but i thought that it would be one of my "safeties" becasue of my scores (2390/1600 SATS, 800 790 790 780 SAT 2s, all As and A+s in school)
Yet both of the faculties that I applied to have "further review required" Yet some people have posted and have gotten in without the midyear reports!
I guess my 'safety' was not so safe!

kristen: I feel sorry for the pressure you guys are under. FRR is not a bad sign at all, they probably are waiting for your mid-year reports which they do want to see from people on a two semester system. Your stats are great, and admissions is truly numbers driven. Some facs take longer than others to decide. I predict you will be real happy real soon.

kristen: Don't worry, looks like you're a shoe-in. Most of the people here who've heard are on quarters/trimesters, so they have already sent grades in from earlier in the year. For a semester system, they will have to wait until mid-year to see any sort of final grade.

Why is mine so special?

Mine says "Ready for Review."
How does that differ from "further review required"?
