When do you have to declare your majors?
I want to apply for the Haas business school in my sophomore year and want to have economics or media studies as my backup major. Do I need to complete all the prereqs for economics and/or media studies before I apply for the school?
Thanks so much!

Yes. I don’t know the exact prereqs for Econ, but I do know them for MS. A few prereqs can be in the process of completing. Usually, people apply to get the major spring semester of sophomore year. It’s all about planning out your classes.

I would also like to know this; if we get rejected by Haas, we still have the opportunity to take Econ pre-req’s junior/senior year?

And another question…Econ requires two semesters of math and Haas requires one. If I don’t get into Haas, should i take my second semester of math junior/senior year? or is it best to take math 16b the semester after 16a?

Thanks

Take 16B as soon as you can (as well as the other Econ pre-reqs).

so when applying to haas, you should have most of your backup major pre-reqs completed as well. I understand you’re notified in February/March of whether or not you get into Haas. So that’d be too late to sign up for any classes for the spring semester. Could you take 2 or 3 requirements in junior fall?
thanks guys!
