Declined by UCLA = Declined by UC Berkeley?

Hello, I just learnt that I got declined by UCLA
Does this mean I pretty much got declined by UC Berkeley too since UCB holds higher rank within the same university family?

I applied to UC Berkeley for the same major (chemical engineering).

Thank you

No indicator. Just have to wait for the results to come out.

Not at all. I know a girl who was rejected by UCLA and UCSD last year, but got into UCB and is a student at UCB now.

No

I’m on the same boat… have you been accepted anywhere else?

My daughter was rejected by UCLA but accepted by Berkeley. For Berkeley, before she received her acceptance she received some supplemental application forms to fill out. If you get these, please take them very seriously since it means you are in the gray area, not admitted, not rejected.

I have a friend whose daughter was denied by UCSD and UCLA, waitlisted by UCI and accepted by Berkeley. My son was waitlisted by UCLA and is Regents at Berkeley. My other son was accepted to UCLA, and accepted Spring to Berkeley. Watching the admissions at my kid’s high school for the past 5 or so years, there have been MANY times that kids were accepted to either Berkeley or UCLA, but not both.

Nope

My girlfriend was rejected by UCSD, waitlisted at UCLA, and accepted to Cal.

Chemical engineering is a very competitive major in UCB. UCLA usually admits people with lower GPAs. I don’t want to be a psalmists, but most likely you will get a decline from UCB as well, unless you have something really special in your app letter since UCB reads all of them regardless of GPA/major.

I love it when people say one university is ranked higher than the other. Depends on what you are considering. And the rankings are largely meaningless since they differ in how they weight things. Equally sad are those students who say they wouldn’t apply to a university with a higher admit rate. Shows how little they understand statistics, marketing and data manipulation.

I really hope I get in, but I’m not expecting much. I applied to all of the UC’s and got into UCM, UCR, UCSC, UCI, UCD, UCSB and waitlisted at both UCSD and UCLA

Decisions are in!

I was rejected from UCLA a few days ago, but was accepted to Berkeley two hours ago or so. If UCLA turns you down, it does not necessarily mean that UCB will follow suit. G’luck!

Waitlisted UCLA, rejected Berkeley. As you’d expect.

Checking in - rejected UCLA, accepted Cal

Not necessarily. I was waitlisted at UCLA but accepted to Cal.

Waitlisted UCLA, accepted to Cal as a fall admit.

I was accepted to both UCLA and CAL, so rumors are not true for those of you future applicants who are worried that just because you were accepted by UCLA signifies a negative result from Berkeley!

S was waitlisted UCLA accepted by UCB and UCSD. School of engineering for all three. His high school has more students accepted by Berkeley than UCLA. Go figure. I feel Berkeley has a more holistic approach than UCLA.

I’m an International student from Eastern Europe. Rejected from UCLA but got into UC Berkeley! Almost lost hope after UCLA rejection but the UCB acceptance fixed this simultaneously))
