Will it add it automatically? Or do I need to do something to get it?
If I've already accepted the original offered amount, will it still give me the extra, or am I out of luck?
Any other information that would be helpful?

Call your c financial aid office and talk to one of the officers there. They will take care of it.

Yeah, they were closed by the time we went through it all today, so I’m going to call tomorrow. This thread was mainly because I was worried a deadline had passed, or it wouldn’t work because I’d accepted the previously offered amount, or anything else, to hopefully find out about it before tomorrow. I am an impatient person, I guess.

Were your parents denied the PLUS, or did you just decline it? You only get the extra $4000 if your parents were denied (not if you simply declined the PLUS loan). If your parents applied for & were denied the PLUS loan, you will most likely need to complete a loan revision request to borrow the additional amount … the school needs your okay to add this amount. There is no deadline, although you will want to get it all set so that when the aid disburses to your account before school begins, the extra will go onto your account to offset expenses.

It was declined. The school said that it was automatically done and would take a couple of weeks.

Still doesn’t hurt to call. I had to do so every fall and it was no big deal.
