Do any prospective mids post here anymore? Nearly every thread now deals with . . . other issues.

Do any prospective mids post here anymore? Nearly every thread now deals with . . . other issues.

DeepThroat

hmmm...I have a couple times, got some good info back. But yeah I haven't been on here a whole lot just cause most of the threads aren't helping (me at least)...

It's a different CC world than when you were last active. . . ."nation at war" and all of that.

As I recall, you were [are?] a recent graduate who had a sibling attending the Acad. [how the story ended is a different matter.] A few, very few, of us from back in 05/06 still lurk occasionally.

Welcome back!

Alas, the well-observed acrimony of the USNA threads--compared to the other threads on CC--has driven many current and prospective mids away. Now, the thread seems to be dominated by a few sectors:

The angry ol' ex-graduates who believe the Academy should be run more like when they attended. Sub-supported by angry ol' parents who are of a like mind.

The likable, helpful ex-graduates who, either as parents of current mids or for other personal reasons, seem to have agenuine concern for getting accurate info out about the Academy. Sub-supported [I wonder if the word "sub" is a good modifier given the current administration] by likable parents who angry ol' ex-graduated think should keep their traps shut.

A few bit players include: current mids, who angrly ol' ex-graduates believe should keep their traps shut and a few, very few, current applicants.

Welcome back

^^^^ LOL!!!

me thinks that about sums it up nicely!

Please do encourage your fellow mids to post here-
who better than "those there doing it!"

Angry. No way. I am enjoying this more and more each and every passing day.

What is an ex-graduate? One of you implied that I deserved to get my class ring stolen (when the evening cocktail flag is hoisted to the yardarm, perhaps a lock ought to be placed on the computer keyboard). Are you also trying to withdraw my diploma?

Too Funny Bill0510, and a "nice" way to sum it up.

"One of you implied that I deserved to get my class ring stolen." usna69

usna69,
Could you explain ^^^this statement.

He's just saying that he's a graduate, not an ex-graduate. I guess if someone stole his ring & his diploma, he would no longer have proof that he had graduated, & would therefore be an ex-graduate.

Midshipman don't neccessarily have a problem with CC, we just have other things to do. I visit every once in a while because I have a special relatinship with this blog from when I was a "prospective mid".

anyway, glad to see you stopping in now and again- hope all is going well. Regards to your mom and dad- no doubt they are very proud of you! :)

btw- what company did you end up in???

I'm in 15th Company, m'am.

usna09mom:

In response to usna69 and his stolen ring you asked if he believed in karma - I think he took that as meaning he deserved to have it stolen.

justamomof4,
Evidently you're right and that was why I clarified who would might have bad karma as a result of a crime: the perpetrator of the crime. It was obvious to me, but may not have been to others.

zachaw- good luck to the 15th then!!!! Will make sure to cheer for you at the homecoming game when you march in!!
