Deerfield Academy [Deerfield, MA]

agree with Blueraven1. My interest in Deerfield Academy lowered a bit - a tiny bit.

You’ll find at many schools that the long list of what is/is not dress code can be daunting (especially for girls). In reality, it’s not that tough. At most of the “Dress Code” schools, girls actually have much more leeway than the boys!

I’ve noticed that too hola3. It seems so especially at Exeter, where it appears as though girls have a casual code and boys have a top half only formal code. Funky.

While I was interviewing at Deerfield this year, my interviewer (Segrid Howell) said that the acceptance rate for female sophomores would be extremely low for 2010 due to some fluke in the admissions office last year (the freshman class is nearly all girls!) Just wanted to let all you girls applying for sophomore at Deerfield. Keep your fingers crossed! (So nervous) =P

she was my interviewer too!
no way no way! haha i just got wayy too excited about that.
that acceptance rate just made my chances .000001%…

for all of you getting your decisions soon, i was in LOVE with deerfield, it was crazy, and i didn’t get in. i love the school i go to now, and i’m really glad i didn’t end up getting in even though i was devastated at the time. so, if you don’t get it, you’re still a great kid, don’t worry too much :)

I understand decisions are sent out by USPS Priority Mail rather than via the online site where the application checklist resides. Is this correct? If so, It will be 10/11-12 before we know a decision.

kraordrawoh: It depends on where you live. Acceptance envelopes, one for our son and one for us (parents), were received early in the afternoon on the 10th. We live about 70 miles from Deerfield.

What year was that CKSABS?
One year they mailed on the 9th because 3/10 was a Sunday.
This year, their web site specifically says:
March 10 - decision letters MAILED

And yes kraordrawoh - no online decisions.

It was last year, Linda, which was a Tuesday. As I (vaguely) recall at the time, the envelopes were postmarked the 10th. I suspect they make special arrangements with the post office and date the envelopes the 10th, but actually mail on the 9th.

Thanks CKSABS.

@Linda S I always received mine on a Tuesday and not a Wednesday.

Good luck today everyone.

If you have questions about DA, I can pass them along to my son to answer while he’s home.

i got accepted yesterday! its my top choice so i’m going to just go to deerfield  the campus is gorgeous!

Congratulations and welcome! Do you have any questions?

What is the boy’s dress code at Deerfield?

We have heard from all other schools my S applied to except DA. Good or bad at this point, and yes today’s mail has come?

Based upon my son’s experience with DA last year, the longer the wait the greater the chance of receiving by snail mail a notice from DA of WL or rejection.
