Deerfield academy interview waived!!!!!

Guys can you help me with this!!?? I have just received a email from Deerfield saying that they cannot arrange me an interview now as there are no available days at this late (I submitted my application on Jan 15th). However, they said that this will not affect my admission.

What I am supposed to do now!!??? I have a so bad feeling about this. Have you ever encountered this situation before?

PLEASE HELP!!

P/S: I am an international student from Asia. Is this because of my background that they decided to reject my application??

Just to be clear they did not reject your application just the interview part of it. I had my deerfield interview pretty late dec. 13th. If you have a stellar application and recommendations you probably still have a chance. Without the interview you are at a slight disadvantage because you do not have any one on the admission board who has had the chance to speak with you and kind of get to know the person you are. But lil I said if you application is stellar they will probably overlook the fact. So basically having your interview will not help you because your application and tests scores will be all the admissions board have to know you as a person.

p.s when I called in december to get an interview and tour all of the slots had been taken but they called us back later during the day and said they had a cancellation earlier. So even in december I was pretty lucky to be able to get an interview. Also it is not because you are an international student from Asia.

This is a good reminder to all future applicants to schedule those interviews VERY early. This time around, I contacted one of the more frequently discussed schools in mid Nov and their earliest availability at that point was, get this…MID JANUARY.

Thank you. But I thought the interview can be arranged after the application is submitted. Besides, they said on the website that interviews are available until Feb 1st, so that is why I am feeling nervous.

Chaunguyenn98- Interviews “can” be arranged after the application but if there is no time slot available you will not interview or tour. The tours and interviews available for the rest of Jan-feb were probably taken in late november-early december.

didn’t have an interview with lville, got in. also international student.

I know it is somehow possible. However, my SSAT sucks. I actually hope that my essays and the interview can compensate for it.

I’m sure your ssats weren’t that bad and if your essays are good you still have a chance

Depending on your stats and the whole package it can be a good or bad thing. I have gotten the interviews for my child within a week of a proposed date (mid-December).
In your case, I would rather consider it a soft “No” than “Yes”, based on your own quote, that your SSAT was not that great (BTW, what is "not that great for you?), you might have a very small chance. However, there are ways to mitigate it: video links, contacting athletics, academics heads, etc to make yourself stand out a bit more. Good luck!
