I'm aware that Deerfield has a formal dress code:

"Class dress for girls means a skirt or dress pants with two visible layers on top, one of which must be a blazer or a sweater."

But seeing as how I live in a tropical country (really hot, and I swear no one wears sweaters here), and the interview is in a really informal place, I'm just wondering if it's okay to wear just one layer. Polo shirt I guess, or maybe a blouse. Is this okay? Or should I go all out and wear a sweater/blazer and dress pants?

Given that you are interviewing in a tropical country in an informal place, I think you don't need to wear the sweater/blazer. You should dress somewhat formally even if the setting is informal. Probably something like a blouse and skirt with dress code shoes would be good -- basically what a Deerfield girl would wear without the blazer/sweater. By the way, I don't have insight into Deerfield interviewing in the tropics -- it just seems like commonsense to me. Because you are interviewing in an informal place, it seems unlikely that your interviewer will be in a suit unless s/he is coming from work.

I think you should consider wearing a skirt or a simple uncomplicated dress. In my opinion, Deerfield definitely pays attention to how kids are dressed.

be formal looking at deerfield. the school seems to appreciate that. i think girls do have it easier. at many schools guys have to wear jacket and tie while girls could be a little less formal in classes. this is because women have nothing like a jacket and tie that stands out as formal.

I wore a skirt and sweater with a blouse underneath, but since you live in a tropical country, I'm sure a polo or blouse would be fine. I really dunno though.
