Defer enrollment to colleges

Hi!

I am planing to apply to US colleges this fall, but I am not finish with my military service before one and a half year, so I am dependent that I can defer my enrollment IF I get admitted for one year because of my military service.

Can someone confirm that I can defer enrollment to colleges like U of Michighan, Harvard, Stanford, U of Southern California, Princeton, Brown, U of Chicago, Boston College, Vanderbilt, U of Georgetown etc. for one year? And that I do not have to do anything special to inform colleges until I know if I get admitted or not?
