If we applied SCEA and we defer our app to regular action, are we allowed to make changes to our submitted app? Or can we entirely withdraw the app, make changes, and then resubmit it?

im not sure, you should call them though.

My guess would be that you can't -- just like you can't make changes if you submit something before the deadline. But they might let you send in additional info (grades, awards and such). I wouldn't count on it though...

hellllo, I know that at least last year you could make changes to your essays if you deferred. I'm not sure about the rest of your application.

What I would advise is that you call up the admissions office if you are really serious about deferring to the regular round, and explain to them that you'd like to make some changes on your application. Last year, when I inquired as to the possibility of sending new essays along with a deferral, I was told yes you can, but the essays would have to be sent in on paper. Since Stanford switched to a completely electronic system this year, along with the adoption of the Common App, they may have a different set of requirements.

Just for the record, I ended up not deferring to the regular round. Unless it is something that could really swing your application, it might not be worth it.

EDIT:
Also I believe the last date you can withdraw your early app is December 1. At least, it was last year.

Yes you can. But you have to call them up and go through a long and bureaucratic process...Unless you've done something amazing in the interval it's not really worth it. Work harder on your RD apps is the way to go.
