Deferral a good sign for other schools?

I just got deferred from Stanford, and I'm wondering if that means I'll get in to most other schools (since I take deferral to mean "in the running"). By other schools, I mean Cornell, Northwestern, JHU, Wash U and Duke.

In other words, does a deferral from Stanford mean a likely acceptance from these schools, or is a Stanford deferral essentially meaningless? Of course, I'd like to think I was on the edge of acceptance for Stanford, so I'd be over the edge for my other schools. Is a deferral a good indicator of my chances?

I was deferred too...i really hope thats the case though...

=/

deferral for stanford is pretty good. It means you did better than at least 55-60% of the applicants, which is pretty good considering the competitiveness of the early action pool.

thanks...I was hoping that's true. Good luck in March, karthikkito.

thanks:). good luck to you too, questo!

It's DAMN GOOD. We're getting in eveywhere else we apply. Even Yale if we choose to apply there...

wow. I'm really flattered now, for being deferred. :)

lol, yeah...this made me feel better.
