Deferral crew, sign in!

Yes I was in Becker... becker 3... this is crazy...

hey, this is jim, from the suite down the hall, w/ Jose in it! never thought it run into you or anyone else from summer college here

Ha, I was just going to say... I looked you up in the who's who thread and saw human ecology and knew it was you. And let me guess, you brought Brittany here too? Or the other way around?

She's here too? I actually haven't talked to her since the summer.

If it's the right Brittany, she PMed me and is the 3rd post from the bottom of the first page.

From another thread:

"i applied to biology for first choice (really hard)

animal science 2nd choice" Yea, sounds like her.

How hard is it to be accepted after deferred? (assuming you try ur best to keep in contact with them and do the regular deferred student process thing)

Well I got deferred to regular decsion. This is like the worst time of my life...

I didn't know what i wanted to do with my life for years, all i knew is I wanted to do something with computers. Then i went to the CALS open house last year (my dad graduated from Cornell so that's like the only reason i went there) and decided to look at the Information Science major. Almost instantly i saw that it was exactly what i had been looking for. I started working harder in school (i had slacked off most of my high school) and took a bunch of AP classes this year.

I always look around and see all of those kids who don't know what to do with their life. For the past year a was able to laught at them becasue i knew exactly what i wanted to do for at least the next four years of my life.

Then i got rejected (deferred) by Cornell and now i don't have the slightes idea what i want to do with my life. For the past year i have been working hard becasue of Cornell. "should i do my homework or watch TV? Remember Cornell! Work hard!" But now i have no motivation to do anything.

Any advice? :-(

Also deferred. I applied to CALS for animal science and business management as a second choice. I was at summer college...hung out in Becker on the 2nd floor all the time because it was air conditioned :) I mostly hung with Kyle, Adam, Nick, Slick Rick, Josh, those guys.

hi guys, I just asked my advisor 2 question
1. what deferred ppl can do to strengthen their app for regular decision
2. what were the rough % or # that usually get in after being deferred ED. (for milk and brooklyn, I also asked specifically for human ecology)

hopefully, she will answer both and i'll post it when she does.

good luck guys regardless

hey quynh2007: do u think it wud be ok to call admissions to see what led to my deferral? i dont want to be annoying, but id like to know.

Hey guys, I know i have no business here as i got accepted ED at Cornell, but keep ur hopes high bec cornell's got one o the highest defferred acceptance rate in US

do you have a link to the stats?

OK, important news. It seems, this year, Cornell deferred many people especially from the Human Ecology college. I did email the director of admissions asking him why, and he told me that i am a strong candidate but they want to compare us to the regular people, cus they want to build the best class and there is still a high chance of acceptance.

Thank you very much quynh2007!

Also, wat colleges did u guys apply to? I want to see the deferral rate per school. It seems its mostly Human ecology. I already noticed that for Human Ecology on CC, like out of 6 people total i think, like 5 got deferred, 1 accepted. Maybe thats a clue of something.

CALS- deferred

LOl yeah its brittany...but nobody brought me here, i just came here myself. omg jim u were deferred?!!! wth!!

farah was deferred too...

this is messed up...

did anyone get any feedback from the engineering college?

deferred. Does Cornell accept a higher percentage of transfers or high school seniors becoming freshman?
