deferral?

I auditioned for point park at the la unifieds and recieved an email from them today stating that “this email is to clarify that you are under consideration and currently have not been accepted.” what does this mean? is it a form letter they send to everyone? have i been deferred?

I got a similar mail. Auditioned at LA unifieds as well. Only, mine says “…under consideration and are currently being wait-listed.”

I auditioned at the NY unifieds. Is it bad that I haven’t heard anything yet?

Yeah I auditioned at Chicago and haven’t heard anything!

There is another email that went out to about a dozen applicants who auditioned in LA. from Michael McKelvey:
I would call it a pre-acceptance. “Our program is very interested in you for next fall…before we can officially offer you acceptance you must formally apply to the university, if you have already applied and your file is complete, the next step will be on our behalf.”

This was sent to my son Feb. 16, but only came to my attention today. If you are on cc, it means you want accurate information as soon as possible and so I am posting it reluctantly knowing every situation is unique. And it was a similar post for CCM where we learned yesterday that my son is NOT getting accepted there, and so we can move on even though we’ve received nothing from CCM. So the PP email is nice, if still unofficial.

This school is expensive and the pool will sift a lot until the scholarship awards are finalized. So all who are interested should keep the faith.
Also, my son went to LA by himself and so I thank the mom and daughter who shared their Throat Coat tea with him in the Westin Friday night.

I auditioned in NY and did not receive this email. Does this mean I am no longer being considered? I’m very confused now.

Santafedad did your son complete the application first, or recieve an academic acceptance first?

He has been accepted academically - that came just a few days before Unified. The MT department does not know all the details of all the students who have been accepted by the university so that probably explains the phrasing of the email.

This is slightly worrying me. lol I’m just anxious to hear back from them already, and I am over analyzing.

Well in that case that is pretty awesome! I hope to hear from them soon also!

I received the same email santafedad, before recieving the email letting me know I hadn’t been accepted but was still under consideration… I think the first email is a form letter they send everyone who auditioned… When I auditioned the auditors told everyone that we would all be receiving an email within the week to ‘touch base’ with us. Have you heard anything else from them?

This process is so confusing! It seems like those who auditioned at the LA unifieds recieved emails letting them know that they were under consideration, and those who did the walk ins in Chicago got emails reminding them to apply for the school. Has anyone who has audioned at Chicago unifieds and recieved an academic acceptance heard anything yet? It seems as though those people who have scheduled an audition, and recieved academic acceptances from Chicago unifieds have not heard ANYTHING yet.

Even if it isn’t an email stating that were are still being considered, it should atleast be an admissions decision. It has definitely been more than 2 weeks since the auditions actually happened.

39652310: Just validating your supposition. D had already long been academically accepted, had a scheduled audition in Chicago and hasn’t heard a thing.

But when I asked at the auditions, they said we would hear something “in 4-6 weeks, but hopefully sooner.” Whatever that means!

Oh great so I was about the 2 weeks things haha…I wonder where did i get that from? That actually makes me feel better that is IS 4-5 weeks. Thanks!

I did a walk-in at Chicago unifieds and haven’t received anything except this weird phone call from yesterday but that’s it…

My best guess is that the phone calls are the academic admissions office urging applicants to submit formal applications and missing items…that does not mean these students will be accepted. This school does not charge an application/ or audition fee - so it is betting that the higher number of applications will help its yield and prestige – for those who pay attention to that sort of thing.

This is from the COPA website:
“How long will it take before I hear about my audition results?
Audition decisions will be released AFTER the student has been notified of their academic acceptance from the Office of Admissions. These decisions are made, sent and received separately. Students who have been academically accepted will receive a letter with their audition result four to six weeks after their audition. We are not permitted to disclose audition results over the phone or by email.”

We have not heard anything since the initial email from Michael McKelvey, and I have not encouraged my son to check the website as I need him to focus on his final campus trip and audition this coming weekend. After that, full-scale panic will set in.
