When does Point Park send their acceptances/rejections out for the MT and Acting major? How long after your audition?

I’m not sure exactly how long after. But I do know that my D received her acceptance more than week after a friend received an acceptance - and they both auditioned at LA Unifieds. We were told it takes them awhile to go through all the applicants and they don’t send them all at the same time. So, be patient.

Has anyone been notified yet?

Did you check the online status through pointweb? D found out about her academic acceptance there on Tuesday and her acceptance to dance yesterday. The academic letter arrived today.

Just wanted to chime in here… if you don’t hear something and everyone else has don’t hesitate to call. My d was left hanging last year and after we called it turned out they misplaced her paperwork and then found it and sent her an acceptance letter and personal email. Stuff happens…

I got my MT rejection and my Acting deferral in the mail yesterday. I auditioned at LA Unifieds.

what exactly is the deal with “deferrals”? This goes for any school.

Do they just mean that you are still in consideration, but they aren’t sure about you?

My D got her acceptance letter on Saturday. If you are accepted, be sure to send in your deposit right away or you will be put on the waiting list.

Exactly, bwaybank123. A deferral means you are still under consideration but the school wants to finish the rest of its auditions before making a decision either way. In other words, you have made the first cut and are now in a MUCH smaller pool from which acceptances (and rejections, unfortunately) will be sent.

Unless Point Park has changed things, haymal56’s comment is incorrect. You must reply by May 1 to keep your spot in the program. They really push to get your deposit in immediately and talk about how you may not get the housing you want, but you won’t lose your place. Otherwise, how can you wait to hear back from the other schools?

xatty:

That’s what the acceptance letter said. I’m fairly sure that you get the deposit back if you don’t end up enrolling at PP.

If you pay your deposit and then don’t attend PP you have until May 1 to request a refund.

AlexaMT: Did your status or ‘last contact’ change on your PointWeb Account? If it did, what did it say?

It did not change, no. My last notification still says “Accepted Students Day Sent” or, whatever, but that’s just for academically accepted students.

Has anyone from Unifieds 1/31 in NYU gotten letters or emails on their MT acceptance or Rejection? We have hear nothing and the program director at Unifieds chased my daughter down the stairs to talk to her and tell her she was in and a big package was coming. Nothing yet. Maybe they change their mind with all the talent out there.

^^ I auditioned at the 1/30 Unified audition. I was asked to stay, along with a few others, where the director said he was “interested” in us, provided us with a business card and
said we’d be getting our letters soon. I’m still waiting! So hopefully, no news is good news at this point!

My D auditioned for MT at Point Park 2/13 and today her admissions status changed to “Theatre Scholarship Award Letter sent 03/04/10”! Has anyone else from that audition heard back yet?

My status changed to that today as well!!! Should be getting a letter in the next few days then…yay!

Congratulations, Megan!!

congratulations all. Just so you know, D’s letters from PPU took longer than expected 6 days (not counting weekends) between the status change and letter. Don’t panic if yours feels slow.
