Deferred at Villanova...what were they thinking?

I got deferred from Villanova and am pretty ****ed. I applied EA so it still gave me the option to apply to other schools, but i was banking on getting in anyway. My stats are solid and, not to be a jerk, but am a very solid applicant with not many flaws.

Very strong teacher recs and essays.

What were they thinking? Who cares, its their loss. I'm sure there are tons of other schools who would want me.

They were thinking you weren't good enough for Villanova. Maybe your essay sounded like a scapegoat for your mediocre test scores. Maybe you were too ****y. Maybe you did something wrong. Maybe it is your loss. But one thing is for sure--you need to stop complaining.

Did Villanova get the essay on standardized testing?

they didnt get the whole essay because it would have been too long. they did however get the abstract.

O well.

from what i hear colleges dont want to hear crap excuses about why your scores are low.

Sica, it's time to be honest with yourself. Your stats were within range, so something isn't as you see it. Your recs? Your essays? Have more people you trust read and comment on your essay. Maybe seek new recs for your other schools. Get some people to help you evaluate your approach anew. Good luck!

sh** im applying there and i have a cumultive 1270.

WOW, I know a kid in my class who went there who was top 25% tops with an 1160.

Maybe it's because you didn't submit any SAT II scores? Not having ANY at all is probably the worse than having low scores.

Wow... People with predicted IB totals like yours usually apply to top LACs and lower Ivies. At least at my school.

Everything else is really good... I think the only that that pulled you down were your SATs. Maybe retake the SAT I and study your a** off for SAT IIs for RD and apply to some schools davidrune suggested.

But then again, some people are perfectly happy at smaller but still excellent schools like Haverford and Bryn Mawr (both very close to Villanova).

dangg thats weird, i got into villanova and im in ib too, but my sat score was higher...your gpa and ec's are good enough to get in, but maybe they didnt like your essay...

and dudeee how did u get the opportunity to write your ee on standardized testing?? that is awesomeeeee. i did my ee in biology, which sucked ass. i wish i was in hl history so i could do my ee in history, but then again hl history is hard as hell, so sl history all the way!!

p.s. sl spanish is for the weak!!!

This happened to a lot of people from my school, too. They had great grades and ec's but their sats might not have been as high as Villanova wanted... although yours are higher than some of those from people I know who were accepted. Good luck, hopefully you will fare better with your other schools!

Man, seems like Villanova really lost out on a potentially great student! G/L with your other schools Sica.

Haha, a few kids from my school were accepted early to Villanova with 1100 SAT scores, much lower grades, and hardly any ECs. Funny stuff, this college process.

Villanova does not require SAT II scores
