Deferred from Georgetown University EA - Can I still get in RD?

I want to study political science/pre-law/international relations/economics/comparative government.
My unweighted GPA: 3.90 (class rank #9, top 5%) and my weighted is 4.19 (class rank #10, top 6%), though with this semester coming to a close, I’ll likely have a 4.0 GPA unweighted and a 4.57 GPA weighted.

My ACT composite is 32 (Math 31, English 32, Reading 31, Science 34) and my writing score is 36.
I am within the top 10 HS oboists in the state of California; the height of my oboe career has been auditioning and performing in an international, collegiate wind orchestra as well as playing in paid adult ensembles in my county.I am interested in playing in college as a music minor if possible at GT.

I am gay and started a Gay-Straight Alliance at my school my freshman year and was president of it. I am an Eagle Scout and a part of the Order of the Arrow (Boy Scout Honor Society); a member of many orchestras/bands in my area; participate in county, regional, and all-state honors bands; a member of California Scholarship Federation Club; received Honorable Mention (2nd place) in a county-wide Mock Trial Journalism Competition; an AP Scholar with Distinction (I have scored five 4s and one 3); and I’ve had three jobs: Worked for a summer as a paid intern for Meridian Pacific, a political consulting and public affairs company, playing piano at a church and accompanying its choir, and teaching piano lessons.

And my essays were stellar. I have been deferred and this means that I need 3 SAT II tests. I took 3 in Nov.: US History: 590 [26%]; Literature: 570 [28%]; and Math 2: 630 [26%], and these scores are clearly unusable, but I HAVE to send scores in unless I provide a written reason why I don’t have them (probably for those with financial problems).

What can I do to raise my head above the RD applicant pool and make myself stand out to the admissions committee? Should I contact the school? Should I turn in more letters of rec, ask the school counselor to lobby for me? Should I contact the person who did my interview for admission and see if he has any advice?

Thank you all!

Your weakness is going to be the SAT II. Georgetown has a bevy of applicants with an interest in politics, and scores in the 20th or 30th percentile will stick out like a sore thumb.

Turning in more letters of rec won’t help - they don’t want to read more than a few, and submitting too many letters may dilute your application. What you should do is write Georgetown a letter expressing your continued interest in the school, which will hopefully make you stand out. There are others here who can tell you more about what should be in that letter - a few such people might be @“aunt bea” or @renaissancedad - and you should speak to your GC if possible.

I don’t know much about Georgetown, apply. You never know!

^ I thought the OP already did apply, and was deferred.

@reniassancedad I have applied and I was deferred. @NotVerySmart I have talked to my guidance counselor and she will call the university tomorrow and see how close I was to admission and what I can do to better my application. I’m just wondering if there is any other advice out there… and thank you so much for yours!
