@knn0605 – If you want to go to medical school and you are very certain you want to pursue this or some kind of post-grad degree, you should go to the cheapest school possible as you will be facing over $100K in debt with med school. Of all the schools you applied to, have you created a list or spreadsheet on how much each would cost over 4 years based on your current offers?
Since you don’t have an offer from Tulane, just pretend you got the $32K merit scholarship and calculate what you have to pay for 4 years. It sounds like that won’t be good enough unless the PT award comes through, which might be announced at the end of the month. What do the numbers look like for your in-state schools and other offers?
I don’t think you’ll get much merit from WashU, Duke or Vandy, and those are also pretty expensive schools.
Not my son.
Stats:
4.1 GPA
1460 SAT
ADL “A World of Difference” Peer leader
MA Boy’s State Attorney General
MUN Vice President
So, so many theatrical productions and films
I think good LORs
Good to great essays
Interviewed with alumna the night before decisions came out (terrible timing not on my son’s side), but it went very well
Did not visit as it is too far away and not financially feasible
Sent a LOCI to his admissions officer
I received an email on 2/28 telling me to check the portal for an important update. I was then alerted that I received admission after being deferred EA. I did not switch my application to EDII but I did visit campus and had about a 20 minute “interview” with my local admissions rep after being deferred.
It says on my portal that there is going to be maintenance done on the portal tomorrow, so I don’t know if that is a sign that decisions are coming. Fingers crossed!
My admissions counselor emailed me and said that decisions would come out on early march, but I saw somewhere else that they will come out on March 23 at 3 pm.
My son applied EA in early November and still have not received my notification. He’s logged in every day for the past month and there have been no updates to his status, not even a deferral.
Has this happened to anyone else? He’s heard of many getting accepted from EA in mid-December, but do they just drag out people they intend to defer?
