<p>I just got a letter from Umich that saying they are making their decision later. what is actual chance that the UMICH would accept someone who they have deffered?</p>

<p>I think you can definitely get through, but of course, you'll have to continue pushing. To my knowledge, UM doesn't count freshman year, but if your GPA still stands around a 3.4 when excluding your first year performance, you need to bring that up. I'd say just keep on working hard, and keep informing the admissions board of your interest in UM via letters of recommendation(s), awards, important activities/events, etc. That's key, and something many deferred students fail to do. </p>
