second, what is actual chance that the UMICH would accept someone who they have deffered?

Hrm. What were your stats like?

I think considering the volume of applications UMich receives... a deferral is more rare than a rejection.

I can't answer your question, but I know someone who can -- ask Alexandre in the University of Michigan forum. Or if he drifts on here, .. he might be better able to answer your question.

thx

you're right for the part about gpa. when i visited michigan they said that they reevaluate your gpa so that it includes only the basic classes (english, math, science, foreign language) you took during your sophomore through senior years. from what they told me, they don't even use your freshman grades.

It may be that your verbal and writing scores scared them off despite your other more impressive scores and achievements. You might think about having an Enlgish teacher or your GC write send a brief note emphasazing that your verbal ability is up to par; perhpas your English grades are better than your standardized scores reflect? Some sort of follow-up rec is fairly common for deferred students at LACs; I don't know about the larger universities, but you should definitely discuss with your GC when school starts again in January, because the score disparity may also be a problem at some of your other schools.

Unless it's not true.

well i came here 5 years ago.... so my english cant be that great
but i did receive ok grades like b+ and got a 90 on my english regents
but do you think michigan accepts follow-up rec?
thank you for your post

I don't know, but it is certainly worth having your GC find out. I know small schools do.

How can you be deferred? Are they not rolling admissions?

exactly my point -.-;
