Deferred from UPENN Vagelos LSM - What are my chances for CAS ?

I got deferred ED from LSM, what are my chances for getting in LSM Or CAS( second option)

Below are my stats

SAT : 2350 (super score)
Weighted GPA : 4.48
Rigorous course load.
8 AP’s : all 5
5 APs senior year
Research at UCSF/ Running a small startup

Your chances for CAS are great and also very good for LSM. Dont be discouraged by the LSM deferral, it is insanely competitive. It is a bit like applying to a super self-selected and specialized version of Stanford or Harvard. LSM kids are the smartest, most intense people I know at Penn. You still got good chances for LSM imo.

Your stats are fine. Your chance for LSM mostly depends on your fit for the program, as demonstrated from your LSM essay and your interview.

Thank you @Penn95 and @Zebracarns .

@akp1234 I know there were threads on this back in December, but did anyone ever figure out how to know if a student was deferred from LSM or if they were really just deferred from CAS?

I’ve also been very curious about this too. Can an ED applicant be deffered by LSM (meaning their CAS/Wharton decision isn’t decided unless LSM rejects them RD)?

@tenderp This I’m not sure, probably best if you contact LSM admin office directly. Keep in mind though that typically RD is more competitive since there are more applicants competing for roughly half of the spots

Any idea whether the “deferred” by LSM means that you will be reconsidered by LSM or only by CAS? What’s the split between RD and ED admits for LSM?

“deferred” by LSM means that you will be reconsidered by LSM
