@ohlook: unknown clearly stated that his response was "a quick reply btw, not an essay." And, anyway, you're on the INTERNET; what do you expect? At least he/she didn't using l33t or "'cuz." Words like that get on my nerves.

Also,

catch: my scores reach the middle 50% of the SAT scores... so i dont understand why they are below the norm

I talked to my counselor about this and being within the 50% range is NOT going to cut it unless you have a MAJOR hook. I don't really see one in your app :\ Anyway, I don't think you should feel discouraged. Keep on going after your dreams. Just make sure that you have a realistic view of the future.

Kinetic: Unknown edited the post to add that the reply was "quick" afterwards, in response to my comment. And true it's the internet, but I expect more of some people.

Yeah. Ummmm... Yale did not defer you because your "two of your optional recs were late," they deferred you because you are a sub-average applicant. Sub-par. Sub-standard. Sub-whatever you want. Sub-Yale. Sorry, but in my opinion, applying to Yale was a waste of your time and money. On this note, Harvard, Columbia, Penn, Brown, and Georgetown will all probably reject you, too. some people need a harsh dose of reality. You, however, could use an over-dose of reality.

Good luck with your other applications.

By the way, that is a terrible excuse for having low SAT IIs. I have a life, but I also have very good SAT IIs. It is not a matter of having a life- it is a matter of taking time out of your life to study for them, because they have an impact on your future, whether you like it or not.
