Was deferred from CC just now. Would it be a good idea to call the admissions office and ask them what the weakness of my app were, so that I might be able to fix them in the upcoming regular decision process? Have seen differing opinions on calling the office, some say that it shows continued interest which is good while others say it sounds desperate. Thoughts?

I would not recommend it, personally.

Not a good idea.

Visiting the school = showing interest
Calling the admissions office to justify deferral = annoying

You can’t fix your app…

I have heard stories of students doing original things to prove to the admissions office that they are worthy of being accepted. There is a thread on here on CC, <a href=“Craziest things students have done after being deferred?? - Applying to College - College Confidential Forums”>Craziest things students have done after being deferred?? - Applying to College - College Confidential Forums, where they talk about the things people have done to get accepted after deferral. You shouldn’t ask them what your weak points are though but perhaps self evaluate to find where you can possibly improve.
