Deferred...now what?

Just as a note, my swim times are not competitive enough for recruitment, but I would get a decent shot as a walk on at most smaller schools.

@xhaavic I really liked the rural setting and Williams’ strength across all areas in terms of academics. When visiting, I talked with the coach who was very supportive. Hard to explain in words, but I really felt a “match” there. And since I will be looking to go onto graduate school, Williams would definitely prepare me best.

So far on my list of colleges are: Amherst, Babson, Bates, Brandeis, Grinnell, Middlebury, Pomona, CMC, Tufts, and Wash and Lee.

@ClarinetDad16 Unfortunately I was above the top quarter of applicants at Williams and still deferred.

@merc81 I have considered doing CMC for ED II, because I was between CMC and Williams for ED II.

@lr4550 Thank you, this gives me some hope! Hopefully colleges will see that I am very hardworking, by consistently holding two jobs, swimming competitively, and keeping good grades/test scores. But as a result of being so busy, I have not had time to develop my interests much beyond the classroom. I am from Washington State.

I applied EA to MIT and Caltech as well. Expecting a deferral from both.

Well who would have extra time with two jobs, high academic success, and competitive swimming! Holding down two jobs is impressive and your interest in swimming shows well roundedness. Wouldn’t surprise me if you get good news in the EA round. And if not your list looks great. Good luck

Even as your list currently stands, you may get into six or more schools, so, excepting your recent setback, your admissibility should not be unduly concerning to you. Constructing a thoughtful list of schools, in a manner similar to that which led you to Williams, should be your foremost priority.

Carleton very strong in Economics, geographically you might have a edge on admission there v. Williams.

You have PLENTY of wonderful choices with your scores and hard work.

Good luck!

That would not include Kenyon or Denison which are usually vying for the D3 swimming championship.
