Deferred Supplemental Form

I got deferred and I’m questioning what to write about in my DSF.

The prompt is as follows: “Please use this space to provide any additional information you feel would be helpful to the admission committee as we make a final decision on your application. Updates to your resume and other pertinent information are most helpful. Your response should be limited to no more than 150 words.”

The limit is 150 words so I’m conflicted on whether to write broad strokes of something or focus all of my efforts into one topic.

My teachers suggested that I email admissions, and they responded saying that they wanted to see how my grades for the following semester since I’m taking courses that pertain to my major (CS). I currently have B+s unweighted in AP Calculus and AP Statistics, which are the only courses I can think of that pertain to CS.

There’s not much I can write about there, so here are my possible topics:
Robotics
Interest in Tech (I’ve visited the campus twice this year and I genuinely enjoy it)
Hobbies (programming, cooking, musical composition)
“Volunteer” work (recent internship at an elementary school)

The only reason I listened “Interest in Tech” is because a teacher suggested that I’m “already accepted,” it’s just that they think I’m using Tech as a backup school. I was unaware that this was even a thing, and I’m still unsure that it is.

I just took a look at the Common Data Set for Tech, and here are the things that I didn’t put on my initial application:
Alumni/ae Relation
Talent/ability
First generation
Racial/ethnic status

One teacher asked if I used the “minority card,” and I said no. I firmly believed that I didn’t have to say that I was the first generation of my Vietnamese family to get in, and I’m sure it’s too late to mention it now.
