I applied ED II to Oberlin and was deferred. (Sad face) I'm okay with this fact except that in the e-mail I got it says I should take it as an opportunity to build a stronger case. I already graduated high school so most of the stuff in my application is set in stone. The only thing I can think of is that I am international student really close to getting a green card, and Oberlin might be waiting for that for financial reasons. But that's out of my hands and may come in April, too late for admissions. Any suggestions as to what I should do?

For the small number of students we defer, we usually reach out to them personally to discuss what they can do to help increase their chances of being admitted. For international apps, your admissions counselor is Joel Presti, whom you have probably already communicated with at some point. If you don’t hear from him soon, go ahead and reach out directly to him asking about the reasons for your deferral and what you can do to help your case.
