I got deferred from MIT; nonetheless, it's still my first choice. Two things I suspect on my application are very weak: SAT and grades.

SAT
When I submitted the application to MIT, I had a very low SAT score. I retook it in Dec., and my score went up 110 points. Will this help me?

GRADES
I transferred to a more academically rigorous school last year. My grades slipped from 4.0 to 3.8. My counselor explained this situation in his letter.
Now, as a senior, I got 4 Bs in AP courses and As in AP Calculus and three non-weighed courses. How bad is this? How much does a bad mid-year report bring down my chance? Is it significant? Or it is no big deal?

Thanks!
