Deferring enrollment?

Hello again, everyone! :) I'm applying to colleges to transfer to, and I want to apply to all of them for Spring 2012. However, I have a question: if I decide to attend one for spring 2012 and end up wanting to attend one of the others, would I be able to defer my enrollment for the others to fall 2012 and then just attend one of them if I wanted to? I.e. giving one a try in the spring, and if it doesn't work out, then going to another one I was accepted to in the fall? Thanks for any info!

So, you are already at one school, may want to attend another, but then also consider moving to yet another? I think you need to take some time and figure out what it is you really want in a school, and then just apply to those schools that have what you want. Do you have trouble making friends and is that why you want to change schools? College hopping isn’t really good for your academic record and studies. You need to focus and just get through an entire program of study so you can build a reputation, get to know professors who will be writing recommendations some day for grad school or jobs, become an active member of the college community because that also says a lot to potential employers, etc.

^No, it’s not because of that. And you don’t need to understand or judge my reasons for asking a question in order to give me a valid answer, which you didn’t. In regards to your actual advice, plenty of people only attend one college for two years and are still able to accomplish all of your laundry list of “important things to do at college”; this “try-out” semester would be either my last semester of freshman year or first of sophomore, so I would still be attending -one- college for at least two years.

Anyway, if anyone knows the real answer, I’d greatly appreciate it. I can’t finish my college applications without knowing this, so please let me know if anyone knows the answer to the -question I asked-. Thank you in advance.

It all depends on the schools. You would have to ask them. There’s an answer.

I’m pretty sure it’s not the same for every college. Why don’t you call them?
