Delaware Engineering Vs. Virginia Tech

I’m currently making the decision between Delaware Engineering and VTech Engineering. I was accepted into Delaware’s ChemE which is highly selective + great program, but Tech has better all-around engineering. Not yet sure if ChemE is what I want to do.
Delaware gave me a ton of money so it’s equal to VT instate, and also accepted into their honors college which I hear is great.

My main question is how much should I weigh VT’s engineering prestige? Should I follow my gut feeling that I would fit in better at UD? can anyone give me some pro’s and cons for either engineering program/school in general?

Well look, you have already answered your own question. UDelaware is one of the premier ChE Departments in THE WORLD check the GS world evaluations as reported by the Times of London if you don’t believe me), thanks to the DuPont Company. VaTech is a super engineering school overall. You’ll probably be fine at either place.

My sister is in VT’s engineering program and she loves it. It’s challenging, but very manageable. She’s majoring in engineering science and mechanics with a double minor in math and biomedical engineering, hoping to go into prosthetics. She didn’t plan on minoring in anything, but she can fit them in four years without any summer or winter classes. She also got into Delaware’s engineering program/honors college with a scholarship, but she didn’t really fit in in general so she really didn’t even consider it. She also got into Rose Hulman, which has a really good engineering program, but she just didn’t fit in at all. I’ve been to VT and it’s really cool and has very good food. I don’t really know much about Delaware vs VT in terms of prestige, but my dad works at a big engineering company and he works with a lot of people who went to VT. My advice is to just go with your gut. My sister was down to Rose Hulman and VT and was struggling with the decision for a while. She ultimately chose VT because all of the people on Hulman’s facebook page only talked about APs, robots, and video games and she is definitely not that type.
