Delaware of Stony Brook?

I live on long island and have been accepted to both schools... I am a business major. My goal is to eventually work in the business side of sports. I prefer to go away and really like UDEL but it would be much cheaper to stay home. I will be paying for my college education. What is a better value? Is it worth going away?

UDEL: will cost $29,000 a year
will major in sports management and take business classes

SBU: will cost $2,500 a year (received $2500 in scholarships a year)
will take business management classes

Keep in mind according to Kiplinger, UDEL was ranked 18th best value out-of-state for 2009... and SBU was ranked 39th best value in-state. since it will be cheaper for SBU, it makes the decision very hard.. and it is a very close comparison to me..o need some heelp!

Keep in mind 29000 is only year one assuming the tuition goes up 5 to 10% ayear Stoneybrook becomes much cheaper. 10% of 29000 is a lot more than 10% of 5k. 125000$ is a lot of debt over 4 years.

psufan - If you’re serious about a career on the business side of sports, you might want to consider the impact that student loans will have on your career options. The son of a friend was able to accept an $15K/year internship with the Milwaukee Brewers because he had no debts to pay off.

yeah im going with stony brook. i heard from a professor i spoke with 2 ppl in her class have internships at Madison Square Garden and one has one with the NY Jets

psufan: at UDel did you apply to the College of Health Sciences for Sports Management Interest? I’m just wondering how competitive it is to get in this department.

BJAG- yes i did
