Delayed AP Score

My D’s scores were due to be released on July 9. She got everything but Calc AB, which has a note saying that the score has been delayed and gives some code number. As of last night, the status was the same.

This is the score the school needs to finalize her schedule, since they can’t place her in the correct math class without it. She’s in Honors and there are a limited number of honors sections, so every delay means it’s more likely her other courses will be screwed up by switching the math course – if the honors section of that course is even still open.

Is there anyone else left hanging by this? Any advice? We’re getting kind of stressed now…

It happens. The scores are generally released after a couple of weeks. Since you can do nothing but wait (you’d likely get nowhere trying to ask the CB to hurry up), explain the situation to the school; I’m sure it’s not the first time this has happened. Although I’ve never heard of a school finalizing placement based upon AP scores or of a post AP Calc course having an honors and non-honors section. Indeed, it’s even rare that any post-AP math course would be filled to capacity, but your school may be unique.

Most schools don’t need scores to put you in the class initially, particularly since they have orientation and registration in June…D signed up for an advanced course through her advisor with assumption she would get the AP score she needed (which she did) to bypass the prerequisite. If she wouldn’t have got the 4 or 5, she would just have to change her schedule.

@CADREAMIN unfortunately, UAH doesn’t do that. They schedule students assuming they WON’T get the score they need, and only change it afterward. As for honors sections, @skieurope, some other courses had closed honors sections before D was even able to register. She was told that whether or not she got into the honors section of her math class would depend on how quickly she was able to modify her registration after AP scores were out. sigh

I guess she’ll just have to check daily and hope for the best!

@NerdMom88 Sorry, I totally missed that you were talking about placing into college classes.

I had something similar happen to me, except it was to my AP Biology score. The code number given was Code 97, which, after calling College Board and ETS, I learned meant that I had filled in either the wrong date or time on my scantron. Something similar probably happened to your daughter. In the event that this happens, ETS needs to contact the student’s AP coordinator to cross-verify testing information before releasing the score. I called on the 5th after not receiving my score that day and CB told me to wait 2-3 weeks for the score.

@nerdmom88 awe shucks, was hoping she could ask and they would let her in. Have you got the scores yet??? Very frustrating - July 9th was long enough (not sure why it takes so long with automation these days)!

Just an update, received an email from College Board this morning that my score had been updated. Checked the score portal and found out I got a 4 on Bio. Your daughter will probably get her score soon. Good luck!
