Delaying an interview - Was I disrespectful?

I received an email from my one of my top choice college to schedule an interview. I have a hectic schedule this week including the weekend, so I asked if we could have it next week. I already replied asking for time next week but now my mom thinks I was really disrespectful since the interviewer is a doctor and she has a busy schedule as well.

Is she right? The interviewer did not explicitly ask THIS week but asked for a mutual weekend to meet. I am really worried because I just didn't have time this week, but if I really tried, I could easily have fit the interview in this week.

So. Was I disrespectful?

I think you’ll be fine. I don’t see how that’s impolite, as long as you were…well, polite about it.

If she asked for a mutually convenient weekend, what you did was fine. Saying this as someone who has interviewed for my alma mater.

I think I did… Lol. I used exclamation marks! hehehe

I basically said I will love to interview, but I will not be available this week. However will be open all next week. I will be able to meet with her during week days if she isn’t busy or weekends except on Saturday I won’t be able to do so before a certain time because of school. [[All in a nicer tone]]

Thanks! I feel a lot better now. Didn’t want to offend her before I even met her. Yikes :p

I don’t see how it would be. This weekend might conversely be seen as coming up too soon.
You might want to get a day from her that’s best. I normally set up my interviews for Fridays and Sundays, but when my interviewer said Wednesdays, I found a day where I didn’t have more than 1.5 hours of ECs.
