Deleting ACT Score before sending the score to colleges?

Hi everyone,

So i took the ACT in my senior year just to see if i could get a better score. I ended up doing better on the SAT than I did on my ACT. I'm deleting the score, and I have not sent that score to any of the colleges that I am applying to. I also said that I took the ACT on my common app...

so the question is, will the colleges still ask for my ACT score even though I had it deleted?

If the college does not require all scores including ACT even if you submit SAT, then they won’t care. If the college requires all scores, it is possible though doubtful they may ask for it. You should be aware, however, that having ACT delete your score may accomplish nothing. Many high schools put all your scores on your official high school transcript and your school has the score if it was identified as your high school when you applied for the test, and deleting a score with ACT after the score has already been released does not delete the one that is in your high school record. Thus, it could show up in the mid-year transcript that many colleges require you to submit after first semester.

Does anybody want to play cards?

Check your high school transcript. From what I read on another thread, someone stated that ACT Inc. notifies your high school to remove it from your transcript (assuming you sent it to your high school and it’s on your transcript). I can’t confirm this, however.

I have no idea what will happen if you noted it on your Commonapp either. Probably nothing will happen most likely.
