Dell Studio Laptops

Hey guys, I was thinking of, well rather I'm hoping to get the studio 15 laptop from dell. The customization options are looking very nice. Just wondering what your thoughts are on it durability-wise and stuff. You think it would be worth the price (a little over 1k after customization with a 3 year warranty)?

P.S. Any other ideas for great laptops with a lot of RAM (like, 3gigs) and a great processor for (preferably) under 1k, but no more than say 1100?

I plan on getting this same laptop for when i start college in the fall. After customization, the price fits in my budget, plus Dell is a pretty good brand.

get the dell studio xps 16. its da best.

Budget won’t allow for that although I do love the xps 16. Anyway, lucky for me a nice sale hit so I’m getting the studio 15 for a pretty good deal.

understandable. the studio 15 is still pretty legit.

I’m getting a Studio 17 (the day I was buying my laptop online it was actually cheaper than the Studio 15 for all the same specs). It should be arriving in two weeks - everyone who has a Dell laptop that I’ve spoken to loves them.

good luck with that one. Seems a little big for college, but if you think you can handle it, more power to you! (literally). Should be fine if you are going to leave it in the dorm, but might be a little hard to bring around.

I wouldn’t recommend Studio 15 as there are a whole bunch of problems with them that are VERY COMMON:

The Studio 15’s also have a much lower average review score on dell.com

Man it’s like everything I look at gets all these mixed reviews. And the stuff that seems to be all good, is way too expensive. I guess I’ll just have to pray that I get a sound version.

Make sure you google dell coupons if you are ordering it from Dell. Quite often there are coupons out there that will get you a better deal than they show on the dell site. The will replace whatever offer they have with the coupon if it is a better deal. For instance right now there is a 20% off coupon.

We have had Dells and like them. Though not trouble free we have found the service to be excellent. With the extended warranty they come out to your house to work on it. We live in a rural area and the closest certified guy is a hundred miles away and he has come to our house twice to repair my daughter’s computer.

Hmm, well the deal I got was was pretty much about that with a $100 girt card. Couldn’t have bought it without the sale anyway lol. It’s got all the features I want basically plus a 2 year warranty and where I’ll be going to school they have a number of experienced dell techs.
