Democrats

I saw a survey where Obama beat all of the candidates. That was cool. ps. I know lots of people can give real reasons to dislike Kerry so maybe that wasn't a good example lol.

I don't think people in the south/midwest would vote for a woman or a black, but guess wat...they vote republican anyway! lol. I think that if Obama wins the primary he will get a lot of people to go out to vote who usually wouldn't so we'll c.

I reallllllllly hope a Democrat winnnnns! It would be a great change. (GORE ROX! He's in double digits in the polls and he isn't even running hahaha)

Obama's cool.
He's even on Yahoo Answers kinda lol... look: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Am7F3ushCq3et1H3Q3W8GCPpy6IX?qid=20070321123705AAUBCyH
And if you're interested: http://www.youtube.com/members?s=po&t=w&g=-1

^^^ cool :)
Do you think Edwards might have a chance? especially with the current publicity...I really feel bad for his wife and him, but do you think sympathy might play a part in gaining him support?… he has potential!

It would be such a nice surprise if Gore decided to run!!!! either way, I’m feeling a democratic victory…hahaha…the conditions are right! gosh I can’t wait lol

If Gore runs...he's winning. America won't forget the huge mistake we made by accepting the electoral college's selection of our current president in 2000.

He seems to have the needed support/popularity/ the right ideas… lol I agree^^

Its just getting too late to start if he doesn't soon. I guess he might be pretty rich right now but he'd be way behind in fundraising. You need like 500 million to run a successful presidential campaign and the day they check the candidates' accounts to c who is a viable player is getting closer...

If people don't vote for Obama and Clinton it's because Obama has done zero as a senator and Clinton is a whackjob, not racism.

And Gore can't even make a "documentary" without fudging the truth, and he sure as hell wouldn't be a competant president.

Can President Bush sack 8 Federal Judges without lying? Can he start a war in the Middle East with out lying? You think thats competant?

OK I'll just take on one of those. How did Gore fudge the truth? That movie could help save the Earth. He's one hell of a guy JUST for that. Our Earth is in trouble and people like u r too scared to admit it I guess. That documentary was simply amazing. Have u even seen it? (Just because I've had this talk w/ people lately who hadn't even ended up seeing it yet and it's irritating)

“fudging the truth” oh please… it’s ok to be frightened by reality and it’s ok to admit it! there are no feasible evidence to support your statement… ignorance I tell ya, ignorance lol

hahaha…I don’t think Gore will have money issues lol

I told myself I wasn't going to get into this, so this is as far as I am going

I'll say what Matty said nicely, Obama is 'inexperienced' to say the least.

cocoapunk, I don't mean to come off mean or cynical, but the problem with refuting what Matty said by dissing Bush is that it has absolutely nothing to do with anything Matty said. He made some conservative comments and so you attack Bush without actually refuting any of his points. Non sequiturial arguments may get you a lot of "oos" and "ahs" in front of people that agree with you, but it will get you no where in a serious discussion.

with that said, playball!

Lets keep this fight to only potential presidential candidates...and I guess Bush if we need to lol. No being mean or anything like that. If u HAVE to fight, do it intellectually. If you want to talk about what this thread is about, then even better! lol

ps OBAMA RULES (if you could hear my voice it's in the O'DOYLE RULES tone...but not comparing him to the stupid O'DOYLES...just saying he rules lol)

hahahahaha^^^^ ;) I really enjoyed this thread lol and Obama is fabulous
ps. i managed to read part of his book, but I have no time to finish it… good book…I’ll finish it sometime in the near future tho ;)

“competence” eh? hahaha… this is “Madness”

so yeah, back to original topic, the Cornell Dems will be incredibly amazing!

K litttttle change back to what you said. I have his book too but I need to find time to read it! I can't wait to though. I'm gonna try to get him to sign it too.

K annnnnd we're back on topic lol

(lol I have 2 essays due tommorow so this is my nice little distraction from this darn work)

tooo much time until the presidents run. I don't even want to think about the election. I do, however, love politics and started a club at my school ;)

not saying which side....cough cough.

Just wanna throw this out there cuz I've been wondering lately...

...One of these days I'm gonna find out what makes someone wanna be a republican besides religion, money, redneckness, or bigotry (obviously more of the older generation). It really does confuse me. Don't take offense at this if you disagree...maybe you can help. I see the religious following what the bible tells them to do and trying to follow morals. I see money being the whole, lower taxes and fend for yourself thing. I see the redneck as being well...rednecky...I don't think anyone can deny that that's one major demographic lol. Then bigots r well...bigots...and they are a dying breed. What makes you passionate about being a republican? (Maybe a thread titled "Democrats" won't bring in a huge response lol). Pls don't get mad or start a fight or throw insults around...I TRULY am wondering.

edit: Because I see Republican backed issues, such as keeping Gay Marriage illegal as SOLELY either religion or bigotry at work. I just sometimes don't really get it and it's hard to walk in someone's shoes who you don't agree with, so I'm interested...

Years ago it was very briefly put to me this way....

Republicans work hard for what they have and want to keep what's theirs

Democrats want them to share

That being said, obviously there's much more to both parties than that, but I'm just repeating something from many years ago.

Figgy,
I would say that most of the students at Cornell are Dems, but they just don't join the club at school. I've been a Democrat all of my life, so I don't want you to take this as an argument... I want to correct some incorrect information you posted about Ted Kennedy. He was a 37 year old Senator at the time of the incident, not a teenager.
Ya if people hate Ted Kennedy it's because he accidently killed a girl who was in the passenger side of his car when he crashed into the water when he was a teenager (no1 mentions his politics).

Chappaquiddick

Sry I had "man" at first and then something in my mind went edit it to teenager...guess my 2nd instinct was wrong. lol. Man then. I read about it a long time ago so I guess that's a good refresher.

Figgy, I like you. Will you be my friend?

I'm halfway through Obama's book - and wow. He's so talented. Please be my president!

My only problem with Hillary is that she supported the war(and she's not saying she made a mistake) and if she wins the presidency, she won't pull out the troops quickly. And she tries too hard to be moderate - you know how she tried to ban certain video games because of foul content? Oh, and she supports the death penalty. =( But you know, i still love her. (anyone but a Republican.)
