I’ve been having difficulty finding out whether UChicago considers demonstrated interest in admissions, as they don’t post a CDS. I have been to many local presentations, and visited the campus itself, where I did an infosession, a tour, and an on campus interview. I live far enough from the Chicago (more than 1300 miles) that it was a pretty big trip.
I applied EA, and UChicago is my first choice. Will my demonstrated interest help?
Note: I think am already a pretty decent candidate- top 5% of class, 36 ACT/2320 SAT, 800/780 SAT IIs, lots of APs/IBs, good ECs with leadership positions, research experience (I submit a research supplement), good rec letters, and my essays were well thought-out and (I think) well written and unique. I am otherwise unhooked (white upper middle class girl). I just want to know if the interest sets me apart.
I’m curious to know how this website got the information, given that UC doesn’t publish their CDS.
Either way, thank you NYDad! This has, at least, made me slightly less anxious haha
I don’t know how they got it, either. I think top schools assume most of the applicants have demonstrated interests so it won’t help a lot, just my guess.
That looks like old information. Note they say at the top that 30 percent or fewer accepted. It is a bit more competitive now.
You can actually find out some info on their website- google UChicago enrollment statistics office of registrar and there is a link to college navigator that will give you more info too.
BTW , the admit rate for women was 8% in 2014. It was 9% for men.
