Demonstrating interest in prospective major

I'm applying undeclared to almost all of my colleges/universities. However, I'm strongly leaning towards majoring in Bio or somethign poli-sci related..... However, i'm scared of putting either or these down as my intended major because I think it will make the admissions process harder for me. Also, shoulnd't you have to demonstrate an interest in a major to apply for it? i've only taken AP Bio (got a 4) on it am currently in AP gov and have taken Political Science at a college.. is that enough? Is it risky to put down a major when applying or should i just stick with undeclared?

There are colleges within universities. Typically there are colleges named "College of Arts and Sciences", "College of Engineering", "College of Business", "College of Fine Arts", and so forth. Each college within the university can have its own admissions standards. You apply to the college by checking that box on the application form. Within a college, it doesn't matter what your major is when you apply and you can just say that you are undeclared. They expect people to change their majors. As long as you stay within the same college within the university, it is easy to change majors after you are accepted. It is harder if you change colleges within the university.

Biology, Math, English, History, Political Science, and so forth are usually always in the same "college". When you apply, they won't really care what your intended major is. If you are worried about it, just say undeclared.

There are kinda strange exceptions. At Univ of Maryland, there is a "College of Life Sciences" and so it is separated from other majors.
