Demonstrating Interest?

I'm currently a Senior and WashU is definitely one of my top choices.. I submitted the application a few weeks ago, RD because I haven't visited the campus and didn't want to be bound anywhere. So since everyone seems to be saying that WashU takes into account demonstrated interest, I'm wondering how I go about doing this? The supplement, from what I remember, didn't ask how I knew about WashU or why I want to go there.

I probably won't be able to visit since I live so far away. I've been to the college representative presentation at my school and one at a hotel, and I'm on the mailing list.. Will they realize that I've been to these things, or is there something else I need to do to indicate interest?

I'm worried because my school seems to have a history of using WashU as a backup school (as in, within the past few years, over 30 kids accepted but maybe one attending).

I’m kind of in the same situation except WashU had no presentations in my area and I couldn’t attend the one in my school.
So I guess I’m in worse shape, lol.

I’ve heard that if you don’t visit the school its bad for your chances. So I’m worried about that.

Oh no. ):

Yeah, me too. But it’s extremely unlikely I’d be able to, especially with the cold coming on and such. But how would they even know you visited, unless you had an interview?

you could try to get an alumni interview, if there’s one in your area.

yesindeedy- don’t stress about not being about to visit.

When you went to the hotel thing, did you speak to the rep personally? (I just asked a random q so that I could afterwards). If so, you’ve already shown interest.

Like you, I was unable to visit until after my acceptance. Similarly, all I did was go to the small meeting at my school and the hotel meeting in my city.

That’s what I’ll probably try to do, I guess. Hopefully I can.

And yes, I did, a little. I’m not sure if he would’ve remembered my name or not, but they did have a sign in sheet, so I know it’s there at least.

Okay, thanks. That’s good to know, because I was really worried they’d think I was using them as a safety school if I didn’t visit. =/

One of the best ways to show interest is to apply for scholarships (listed on WashU website). It takes a little bit of work, but not only does it shopw interest - it may also result in some merit money.
